Superb location. My room was super quiet, for a change with a hotel room!
I had dinner at the hotel, in the walker's bar, outside actually as the September weather was perfect.
Very tasty pie, mash and veg. Excellent real ales, and then you've also the Stickle Barn bar nextdoor for real ales too

It's in a fantastic location with amazing views over the valley. It's a great base for walking and sightseeing, with lots of options and bus routes really close by. The property, although small, is well equipped and furnished.
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
We had a great time. The views from the appartment are fantastic, the environment so quiet and peaceful ! Beautiful private gardens as well. Ideal location to visit the area. The appartment is well equipped, the beds super comfy.
I had a small but comfortable single room with a king single bed, and a small but well-equipped ensuite. Good location close to the centre in a quiet street. My room was cleaned every day of a 4 night stay (this has not been the case elsewhere in England) which made it much nicer to come back to after a day's hiking. The host Jo was very welcoming and helpful. Fabulous hot breakfast every day with no waiting to be served. Loved the fresh fruit salad!
Incredible location - the apartment was beautifully decorated, clean, and had everything we needed! We’d absolutely come back again next time! Despite being town centre we found it quiet and peaceful, and really comfortable after a few days walking the Wainwrights!
The food was very good. Breakfast was plentiful, hot and fresh. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. The room was an excellent size and the view lovely. Gardens were large and lovely and despite being a busy hotel it was quiet and peaceful. Dogs are welcome!
Location was fantastic for hiking. Really beautiful area, and nice and quiet and secluded. Host was amazing. Delicious breakfast. Seriously great value for money.
A quiet location, great for exploring the area and has a fabulous view. Beautifully furnished, well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Two spacious bedrooms with very comfortable beds and two modern bathrooms, plenty of hot water. Underfloor heating made it nice and cosy, a lovely place to return to after a day out hiking.
Helpful and friendly owners too.
Amazing location for hiking, so quiet and peaceful! The garden was beautiful, home to so much wildlife we loved being woken up by the birds in the morning. The house itself has everything you need and so much space.
Great location for hiking and trekking, super quiet, 2 great pubs within walking distance. The lady who looks after the cottages on site (sorry I don't remember her name) was very friendly and helpful.
