Breakfast was amazing. Room was comfortable and view was spectacular. We had room service every night as we wanted to eat with our dogs and the food and service was brilliant. Dogs can go with you to a dining room but our dogs prefer their own company. The Christmas decor was so beautiful too. We loved our stay.

Ees Wyke Country House, hotel in Glenridding

Ees Wyke Country House is an elegant Georgian property in the Lake District, less than 3 miles from the town of Hawkshead.

A cosy country house that was beautifully appointed to fit in with the era when Beatrix Potter lived there! The meals were exquisite. Richard, owner and chef, produced wonderful meals! Thoroughly recommend both the hotel and food! Bedroom was lovely and bed comfortable. The hotel was warm and staff very friendly and helpful.

Rydal Lodge, hotel in Glenridding

With a beautiful riverside location, Rydal Lodge Hotel offers elegant Lake District accommodation, 2 miles from the centre of Ambleside.

Fabulous location as a base for exploring the area - plenty of walks to start and finish at the Lodge. Breakfast provided a great start to the day and certainly kept us going past normal lunch. We stayed in the 16th Century part of the Lodge, so be prepared for quirky - and sloping floors!

We were welcomed very friendly, and although the room wasn't ready yet we could leave the luggage safely behind the reception counter. The area is great, we did not expect to be so close to the mountain hiking area. A nice atmosphere and YHA has a nice dinner and breakfast offer.

The hostel is situated in an old building near an old mine in a beautiful location with many picturesque walks nearby. The staff are friendly and hospitable while the hostel itself is very clean. The facilities (dining room, showers, kitchen, toilets etc.) are enough for everyone and it does not get crowded. It is quiet and peaceful and the beds are comfortable.
