This is an older, quaint property (and we loved that) which was well stiuatated, lovley view with nice grounds and sections of woods along a beck / creek to walk. Staff were outstanding, food was excellent, the room was comforatable and honestly my wife and I felt that of all the hotels we stayed in (similar to this) on our trip, this was by far the best. Having read some of the reviews that complained that rooms were a bit "run down" well honestly you could go to a modern hotel if you want all new, this is an older property, and its well looked after but it is old. However we had absolutely no complaints and nothing bad to say.

Location, seclusion and privacy great for families and having a sauna is an added bonus. My kids loved it and we're disappointed that we did not stay longer. Would definitely stay again.
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes located in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, like trekking, bird watching, and cycling.
The place is so quiet and peaceful. The bed is comfy with essential facilities available. We enjoyed the view from our room and the location. We had avocado on toast and salmon and eggs on toast, and it was delicious. We were happy with the staff who were very understanding and cooperative.
The bed was really comfy, the shower was great and the room was clean! The property is just a short walk from all of the bars, shops and restaurants, so it’s really convenient whilst being slightly outside of the centre of Ambleside and being quieter and more peaceful than staying in the centre. The staff were so friendly and always said hello to us when we passed them! We loved watching the sheep in the field next to our window. We had such a lovely stay and would 100% recommend this property!
Breakfast was excellent. My stay was quiet and peaceful with the swifts singing me to sleep. A 5 minute walk to my meeting venue was a pleasure as the steep hill was downhill.
Location very good as a base for exploring the Lakes and walking out into the countryside without having to take the car.
Spacious property, quiet and peaceful - comfortable bedroom - quality facilities.
Warm and welcoming building and staff with a fabulous atmosphere. Well located and yet quiet and peaceful. Good food both at night and for breakfast. Staff all happy to make our stay memorable. Great cross section of guests who were all friendly as well.

It was a quiet and peaceful stay,
A pleasant countryside walking area
The facilities available were of an excellent standard
Peaceful surroundings, very beautiful country house, room was lovely, bed comfortable, bathroom luxurious with a spacious bath and shower perfect after a long day of walking, brilliant breakfast options both continental and also a good menu selection of hot breakfasts, staff really friendly and welcoming, room very cosy and great view out onto the farm. Surroundings very quiet and peaceful. There's also a great lounge area with comfy sofas to chill in and board games.
This is our second stay at Briery Wood. It is a lovely country hotel. Very comfortable & clean and in its own beautiful grounds. It is in a nice quiet & peaceful setting but not too far from Ambleside and within walking distance of Brockhole where you can take part in the activities or walk around the gardens or go on a boat to Ambleside or Bowness
The staff at the hotel are so friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely. We really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.
