The kitchen was large and well equipped. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The host was extremely helpful, and even offered to give us a lift from Glasgow to the ferry when trains were down for several days from a large storm. Overall it was an excellent experience with an excellent host.

Rose Cottage has everything you need for a cosy stay. Lots of room, beautiful fire with plenty of wood supplied, well equipped kitchen with lovely dinner set and glassware, comfortable beds and all the little 'special touches' that make you feel welcome and comfortable. - and it is dog friendly. It is in a lovely estate with lots of walking paths along the river or through the woodland. We enjoyed watching the bird life around the lake and seeing squirrels on our walks and feeding the chickens our food scraps. Hosts Lewis and Alice are very welcoming and they made sure we had everything we needed, with lots of good advice on local restaurants and places of interest. We loved our stay and wish we could give more than five stars in every category.
