We very much enjoyed the area! It is however a bit of a challenge to keep up with operating hours. Some places close early, others are not open on Mondays, another was only open for tours on Fridays and Saturdays. It would also be great if places remained open later in the day during summer when the sun sets late.

Lovely place. Clean spacious room.
Lovely place. Clean spacious room. I was there for a wedding so only one night and the day at a wine farm. The views were fantastic. So was the food and the wine at the wine farm. We got around via taxi which was easy enough although late at night from the wine farm was a little challenging. I might try hiring a car on my next visit

,t Unfortunately, there were no safety rails in the shower, so had to be careful reaching for the bath towel.
We had lunch at de Warenmarkt, which was delicious.

Quiet town, friendly and helpful people.
Quiet town, friendly and helpful people.
The whole setting of the town is attractive, very nice river.
Lunching and dining was an issue - rather expensive.
The map needs a lot of improvement: difficult to orientate but once I got the hang of the street layout, became easier to find my way.
The only "activity" was the fabulous music festival - rainy weather (I was on foot) and very little information on the map prevented searching for sights worth seeing.

Obviously being in the heart of the winelands, wine farm...
Obviously being in the heart of the winelands, wine farm visits are a daily activity. Selecting the right place to eat can be tricky, some very up market and expensive places, some very quick, snack and go places, the trick is to find the middle ground and filter out what you don't want.
Traffic cameras are EVERYWHERE, drive the speed limit, coming from Joburg this will need to be a conscious change. A traffic fine can ruin a trip.
Navigating Stellies is effortless, well indicated signage and it helps that everyone drives ridiculously slow.
Avoid main roads, for no reason, other than to take in the fantastic views and the experience of local life in the area, explore as far as possible, you wont get lost.
Oh, and try the scooters that are randomly scattered around town, looks weird but works great. Tap and go, awesome way to "feel" the town
