Quiet town, friendly and helpful people.
The whole setting of the town is attractive, very nice river.
Lunching and dining was an issue - rather expensive.
The map needs a lot of improvement: difficult to orientate but once I got the hang of the street layout, became easier to find my way.
The only "activity" was the fabulous music festival - rainy weather (I was on foot) and very little information on the map prevented searching for sights worth seeing.

Obviously being in the heart of the winelands, wine farm visits are a daily activity. Selecting the right place to eat can be tricky, some very up market and expensive places, some very quick, snack and go places, the trick is to find the middle ground and filter out what you don't want.
Traffic cameras are EVERYWHERE, drive the speed limit, coming from Joburg this will need to be a conscious change. A traffic fine can ruin a trip.
Navigating Stellies is effortless, well indicated signage and it helps that everyone drives ridiculously slow.
Avoid main roads, for no reason, other than to take in the fantastic views and the experience of local life in the area, explore as far as possible, you wont get lost.
Oh, and try the scooters that are randomly scattered around town, looks weird but works great. Tap and go, awesome way to "feel" the town

Stellenbosch was reverse retail experience loads of FANTASTIC coffee shops restaurants and wine tasting bar EXTREMELY helpful staff and the stand out fact was the super squeaky clean roads sidewalks and pavements. But two days wasn’t long enough
Coopmanhuijs Hotel is in a very central situation in Stellenbosch, and the visitor has a huge choice of coffee shops, restaurants and wine bars in the same street. Such a lovely atmosphere. Loved the traditional decor in bedrooms and public spaces which gave an authentic Cape feel. The restaurant is very highly regarded, the food is delicious and they always seem to have a space for hotel residents, even if fully booked. The staff are all wonderful and go above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable.
Location, location, location !!!! The apartment had everything one needs for self catering, comfortable beds and gas stove for boiling water during load shedding. Couldn’t ask for a better location - in the heart of central Stellenbosch and within a few steps from great restaurants, shops and coffee shops.
Amazing location - very close to Stellenbosch central and also the wine farms. The estate is gorgeous and very secure. Waking up to the view is also exceptional.
Location was excellent and very central. Restaurants and cafe's all around. We chose the apartment which was self catering. It was big and the kitchen was nice.
