The location, slightly out of town but you get to ride through the rice field and you sleep right under the mountain and away from noise and traffic. Had access to free bikes plus rental of scooters. The staff is very friendly and helpful (even helped me to top up my phone). Generous breakfast. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family. Keep up the good work guys!

Ninh Binh is one of the most beautiful regions in a country filled with stunningly beautiful nature. The limestone mountains, the rivers flowing through them and the cave systems carved by these rivers in these mountains are just breathtaking. The best way to explore is reaching a destination by bicycle/motorbike and walking around on foot, or if there's a mountain to climb, admiring the scenery from the top. It never gets repetitive. One aspect of the wonderful experience is the people. The people here are hardworking, always smiling and helpful. The cleanliness and maintenance of the natural beauty, the facilities for tourists make the experience pleasant. Their importance cannot be overstated. For me, the Tam Coc and Trang An boat tours, Mua Cave and Lying Dragon Mountain, Phố Cổ Hoa Lư, Bich Dong Pagoda, Thung Nam Bird Valley, Hoa Lu Ancient Capital and the lush green rice fields surrounding all of these attractions were the highlights. There are many more attractions which I didn't get to visit, but that's for the next time!

Ninh Binh is extremely beautiful.
Ninh Binh is extremely beautiful. It’s better to take organised small group tours rather than a taxi to see the sights. Group tours include transport, entrance fee, lunch & a guide. The boating in Tam Coc & Trang An are not very different from each other, though I did both & loved them. Cuc Phuong is a gem.

Tam coc is worth staying in for minimum 3 nights. We could have easily spent a week here - to be surrounded by natural beauty. Traffic was minimal at time we went (In May), so cycling around was amazing. However it was hot and humid weather. Lots of reasonably priced eating options at walking distance. Very tourist friendly place. Recommend boating in Tang An - longer duration for same pricing as boating in Tam coc.

A beautiful place, lots to see and would recommend at least 2 days in one area and 2 days or more in another. Lots to see beautiful sites, walks, nature,. Quiet and calm in some places, busy but lovely in others.
Do use a bicycle, znd cycle the rice fields, local Taxis or the grab cars.
Visit the bird Sanctuary but don't stay there. And do Tam coc boat ride...stunning, as is the walk to the dragon! Take your time if you can.
While touristy its also got many non touristy areas...slow down smell the roses and enjoy. So many great places to stay, to eat....preferred it here to Cat ba island!

A lovely, peaceful area perfect for getting out of the city and into nature. It's been wonderful to see the steps the municipality have taken to clean up the area and protect the natural resources. Huge improvement from a few years ago!
The town centre is vibey and best for travellers looking for a bit of a party. But Ninh Binh is surrounded by plenty of peaceful homestays that are perfect for relaxing.
The best attractions are Trang An boat tours (don't bother with the Tam Coc boats), Mua Caves and look-out point, and biking around the little roads.

Beautiful countryside with amazing mountain views and rice...
Beautiful countryside with amazing mountain views and rice fields. So much to see and do. Just get on a bike and explore! We visited Trang An, Hoa Lu and Tam Coc Cave in two days. Wish we would have had time to see more.
Absolute gem of a homestay in Ninh Binh are. Trang An is a quiet part of the area so if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ninh Binh / Tam Coc - Trang An is perfect and this is also an oasis within Trang An - set away from the main road.
The family running the homestay are lovely and very friendly. We rented a scooter from them (the best scooter I´ve rented in Vietnam) and they also helped organize transport out to Hanoi.
We liked the homestay so much we extended our stay there!
We stayed at Windy Fields for 3 days in december. The staff is really nice and helpfull! You can get any advice from them, they help you plan your itinerary when in Ninh Binh. There is a nice pool, and beautiful views of the Rice fields (although it is not very green in december). It is a 15min walk to Tam Coc centre, where the restaurants and bars are, but the hotel restaurant is also open all day and serves excellent food. Bicycles are included, so we biked everywhere.
Location was good, near to Tam Coc. Food at the hotel's restaurant was one of the best we had in Ninh Binh. The room was comfortable. As such, we would feel that the room would be more suitable for couples to stay in, very comfortable. Hotel staff helped to upgrade us to a bigger room, which was more suitable for our baby.
Very nice property between Ninh Binh proper and Tam Coc. It feels exclusive. The bikes make it simple to get around and they are included in the hotel price. Be prepared to pay for supervised bike parking at your destinations. The goat dishes were flavourful.
The owners and staff were absolutely amazing. They were so helpful and wanted to do everything possible to make our stay in Vietnam great. Can not say enough good things about our stay, absolutely hope to be back to beautiful Tam coc /ninh binh in future!
