Nice hotel, very clean. Big rooms and bathrooms. Simple but good breakfast included in the price. Excellent location: a couple of minutes walk to the sea front, very near the beaches, where you can swim, and a beautiful walkway along the coast. Near the market where you'll find a good and inexpensive place to eat. Also plenty of restaurants and bars around. The family who runs the hotel is very nice.
Cat Ba is beautiful but best to avoid the weekend which gets extremely busy.

Loved the family bedroom with the 2 double beds and bunks. The pool was great for the kids and the location was nice to be out of town, a very short walk to the beach. So easy to rent motorbikes and Linh (the hostess) was such a gem! Full of good information and a lovely family atmosphere. Really felt like being at home.

Location was excellent, end of an alley, no flow thru traffic, close to everything on the loop; yummy 2, start-up cafe, chef hung manh and tit and mit coffee shop. Hostess was friendly and accommodating even anxious to help, elevator a huge plus since my room was on the 6th floor. Free breakfast was coffee/tea and banh mi (egg, sausage) toasted bread freshly made, chairs/tables adjacent outside. room was large, 2 queens, hot water, no problems with wifi, towel changes & room cleaning on request. Btw stayed there 2 different times for a total of 10 days, obviously thought it was a great value

Cat Ba was very beautiful. I would say, however, that you should always check the local news and tourist reviews to see if they have cleaned up the floating trash before you book your trip. Since Ha Long Bay became a popular tourist spot many years ago, a mountain of garbage and plastic waste has been polluting both Ha Long and Cat Ba bays. The government does respond with increased collection/cleaning efforts when the tourist complaints get loud enough, so always a good idea to check before you go.

I resisted going to Cat Ba for many years for various reasons and now I regret it. The island is very beautiful, easy to get around and seems to have less rubbish than Phu Quoc (not to mention it is considerably cheaper). There are many tourist facilities and the service is great. I would definitely come back to Cat Ba.

Beautiful island! Would recommend 3 full days here. We had one day renting a scooter and going to the national park (1h30 hike) and 2 caves near the National Park. Then we went on the night boat trip with kayaking & swimming to see the bioluminescence plankton. Then the next day we went on the Lan Ha Bay & Halong Bay boat trip with kayaking. Both trips were booked with Cat Ba Local who we'd highly recommend! Then the third day we walked around town to see the markets and went to the 3 beaches. Then hired a tandem bike in town in the evening! Lovely island so allow time to relax and enjoy it. It was very easy to get around and book any trips the day before via tour agencies or hotels.

It is convenient to travel to Cat Ba from Hanoi city, only 3 hours travelling. You can enjoy both sea and forest at the same trip in Cat Ba island. Food is the most I like in Cat Ba, especially sea food and ice cream.

There is no beach in the bay. You have to travel further afield. It would be good to know when your chosen hotel/accommodation is on a steep hill.
Cat Ba has a great little market, a few good restaurants, good foot massage and friendly folks

Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill. There is good accommodation around and lots of eating place to choose from. You can also spend 8 hours cruising on the bay if you wish with lunch included. The cruise was very enjoyable. Oasis restaurant on the main street is a great place to eat, drink or have a cup of coffee. The food is great there. They have a pool table there and it's free to play. If you want to go to the beach, it's near the Flamingo Resort which is a 20 minutes walk to the left of the main road if you're facing the bay.
This is such a lovely hotel in the centre of Cat Ba town. The hotel offer a range of trips and will help you book you departure bus from the island too. Our room was beautiful and clean with a amazing view of the sea! For the price this hotel is a no brainier as the service you receive is above and beyond. We would particularly like to thank Teddy who looked after us during our 3 night stay. When we return to Cat Ba in the future we will definitely be staying here!

The staff and the pets are the friendliest in the whole island. The hotel is a little bit hidden which is great as it feels somewhat private, plus it's easy enough to get around on scooter which the hotel offers as well.
