I like Richmond.
I like Richmond. It has a nice blend of old school colonially feel, modern city and countryside.
A walk down by the James River near the Tredegar Iron Works is nice was to spend a hour, and the walk underneath the S Belvidere St road bridge is quite interesting.

The Civil War museum was really good, and the white House of the South was interesting. Went around the state Capital Building and joined a tour - big group and hence a little slow. We walked between places which worked for us.
We used our car to see some of the site around Richmond.
Well worth a visit.

The location was ideal having visited for the first time.
The location was ideal having visited for the first time. The close proximity to food stores compensated for the limited breakfast options.
I was accommodated for an early check in at no additional cost and truly appreciated that. I did not get the room originally booked but understood perfectly.
I will stay there another time.

The beauty of Richmond, I traveled when it was very green and the forests were in full bloom. The wedding location that I attended for my friends ceremony was magnificient. Richmond was easy to walk around on foot, full of little stores and places to eat. I used uber when I needed to with zero hassle. I personally loved the dog friendly areas and parks/ wide open spaces.
The room was huge, clean and air conditioning worked well. We had a lovely view out of the 6th floor window of the city skyline. The downtown location was great, about a 10 minute walk to the civil war museum, 20 minutes to the capitol building. There are a few bars and restaurants nearby too.
Breakfast was nice, hot options as well as bagels and cereal.
Overall a good place to stay. Really friendly staff.
Lovely, comfortable rooms of a good size.
Use of the YMCA gym just down the street - large, well equipped and clean.
Friendly staff and gorgeous hotel cat.
Lovely courtyard.
There is parking available on the street which is free over night.
