Philly Inn & Suites, hotel in Philadelphia

Situated within 3 km of Mann Center for Performing Arts and 5.2 km of Philadelphia Zoo, Philly Inn & Suites features rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Philadelphia.

Aesthetically the establishment looks like a sketchy place to stay at first (it looks like a 1990s McDonald's kids playground color scheme and set up). But when you consider its location (high quality companies), and the other aspects of it, it feels less like a haphazard place to stay and just like any other more reputable place to stay. The instructions on how to properly close your door were funny to review, but even in nicer brand name hotels you can find yourself in a tricky situation, it's all about being aware.

Penn's View Hotel Philadelphia, hotel in Philadelphia

Featuring an on-site wine cellar, an a la carte restaurant and a fitness centre, Penn's View Hotel is located in Philadelphia, 400 metres from Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Independence Park.

The historical location is close to all the sites which are easy to walk around. There is a Plash bus and metro station very close by which allows you to see the sights without having to walk too much. The room was very clean and very comfortable. There's complimentary coffee and muffins for breakfast. Which was good. Although there's a delightful breakfast/lunch cafe across the road that served wonderful coffee, tea etc and delicious sandwiches cakes and treats. The hotel had a fantastic restaurant. The staff member who checked us in gave us a 25% saving voucher which was brilliant. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and very thoughtful.

The greatest advantage of Hotel CAMBRIA is its location. The rooms are surprisingly silent considering the location and quite comfortable. The room was cleaned daily although not thoroughly. Towels were replaced as needed. The hotel also offers breakfast. The lobby bar is quite cheerful.

FAQs about hotels in Philadelphia

A Birthplace of Independence And a Public Art Mecca

The birthplace of American independence, Philadelphia was founded in 1682 by William Penn. The name of the city translates to City of Brotherly Love and the city itself is a vibrant mix of history, art and culture.

Philly, as it is commonly called, is famous for its public art with more sculptures and murals than any other city in USA. Seeing the best graffiti and statutes won’t break the bank balance as you can join many free tours and admire them absolutely free of charge!

It’s also home to many national historical sites with the Independence National History Park as a starting point and centre for all the major landmarks, including the Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Liberty Bell is located, the symbol of the American Revolution.

Visit the world’s largest urban landscaped park, the Fairmount Park with over 37 km² of green area. There are plenty of paths and hiking trails and after that, enjoy some local specialities: a cheesesteak sandwich, a soft pretzel or some Tastykake snacks.

Arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, you’re only a 20-minute ride from the city centre. Booking.com offers a variety of hotels in downtown Philly, near the airport or for the sports enthusiasts, near the Wells Fargo Center.

My first trip to the historic district of Philadelphia was in 2005. I was booked into this same hotel, which at the time was The Comfort Inn. Shortly after that it went into the Holiday Inn System. At that time the hotel had a shuttle which was extremely nice and convenient. When Covid hit the country the hotel discontinued the shuttle. I have really missed it. I have loved the Historic District ever since and have been numerous times. Independence Hall is a must. I love the Delaware River and the view from the hotel. I've loved the Chart House.Race Street Cafe is nice and a sandwich shop across Columbus BLVD. The Continental was a nice place but is closed now. I love Franklin Court and the vistor center and the new liberty bell hall. This last trip we visited the Revolutionary park and tomb of the unknown. the first time I knew it was there . It was a very beautiful area. We also visited China Town. And Terminal Market, which is outstanding. I have been to the Philadelphia Flower Show at least 3 different years and it is spectacular.

Philly gets a bad rap because the sports fans are... boisterous, but it is one of America's underrated cities for tourists for sure. The museums are terrific and varied; the restaurants are on par with any culinary destination - Philly is more than just cheesesteaks, although those are worth the calories - and the people are friendly. And don't forget the history; it is cool to see the place where American democracy was codified (Independence Hall) and celebrated (Liberty Bell). The metro and SEPTA are relatively easy to use, and Fairmount Park is a wonderful - and huge - place for a stroll. Be sure to stop in the Reading Terminal Market for all kinds of food, and pop into Macy's Grand Court to hear the daily recital by the Wanamaker Organ, the world's largest.

We liked the water ice (sold everywhere) and re-creating the run up the 72 stairs from the movie, "Rocky" (in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art). My partner enjoyed a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich from Campo's Philly Cheesesteaks on Market Street. We used a car and Uber to get around Philadelphia, but the vintage street cars were amusing to watch. City parking is made convenient for individuals with disabled placards. Philadelphia is okay to pass through or a decent day trip from a cleaner destination. I would not recommend any overnight stays or exploring outside of Center City. Most of the neighborhoods have large homeless populations. When people were not trying to sell us drugs they were begging for drug money. We noticed homeless people sitting and taking naps on the sidewalk in almost every neighborhood we passed through. The yards were so unkempt that I was beginning to think that there was a law against mowing or manicuring lawns!

The hotel’s location is fantastic, within walking distance from all of the attractions of Philadelphia’s city center including the main square, food market, Rittenhouse Square, bars and Washington Square/ Old Town area. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Absolutely nothing to complain about, better than expected. Comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated. This is the second time Ive stayed at this hotel. It's comfortable and beautifully decorated. The hotel restaurant is excellent, and the staff is always helpful. It is conveniently located right in downtown Philly. I live in Philly but didn't want to travel for Thanksgiving so I booked myself a room downtown as a mini staycation.
