This was an introverts dream B&B. I only saw the host twice and only very briefly during the entire stay. We stayed in the Salish room, and while we did not book the "suite", the room had an AMAZING view from the room (from the bed, main room, private deck, etc). It was quite conveniently located on the island and SO nice!! Heated floors in the (very nice) bathroom, remote-controlled propane fireplace, hot tub right outside and stocked kitchenette.
I've always avoided B&B"s because of the "personalized" and extroverted services that hosts of B&Bs seem to adhere too. BUT here all communications I had were through text or the app. They asked for basic plans but weren't pushy or nosy. The room hosted binoculars to view the bay (also available on the bluff), woolen blankets for the chilly nights or days relaxing about the property, umbrellas for damp days, and various informational booklets and brochures to acclimate you to the island enjoyments. My name welcomed me to my room via chalkboard
We enjoyed an amazing breakfast by them that I'm still bragging about. I honestly cannot wait to visit again.
Introverted I may be, it's apparent the hosts were not adverse to the personalized experience. While in our stay, another couple arrived (to the 2 room B&B) and were provided a full tour (noticed while in our booked hot-tub hour; yes again, hot-tub was present).
The grounds were welcoming and BEAUTIFUL! The views of the bay, the gardens, and prospect of the home were all elegantly situated for a gorgeous experience.
We enjoyed 1 full breakfast with them and it was top-notch. The presentation, taste, and delivery left nothing to be desired. And the baked complimentary pastries we SO good. Truly, this was an experience to enjoy.

We loved watching the horses gamboling in the pastures! We enjoyed our trail ride. We loved the quiet and we enjoyed watching the stars at night (we even saw a huge meteor). The breakfasts were great!
Oak Harbor (Island County), in Washington State, was founded...
Oak Harbor (Island County), in Washington State, was founded as a Dutch community in the last half of the 19th century and incorporated in 1915. It has also been home to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island since the 1940s. Oak Harbor High School is the home of the Wildcats. A bit less than an hour away on ST HWY 20 E across Deception Pass to I-5, about an hour down ST HWY 20 W to the Clinton-Mukilteo Ferry Terminal, a half an hour to the San Juan Islands ferry terminal in Anacortes, and about 30 minutes to the Coupeville-Port Townsend Ferry Terminal, Oak Harbor is quite centrally located to visit the beautiful, breath-taking, scenery of the Pacific Northwest. There are also plenty of events that take place around the Oak Harbor area: Penn Cove Razor Clam Fest, Holland Happening, Penn Cove Water Fest, Old-Fashioned 4th of July, Hydros for Heroes, Oak Harbor Music Festival, and The Island County Fair all take place annually.

Oak Harbor was a good area to stop when traveling up Whidbey Island. But I didn't see the quaint waterfront that I was expecting. The main street looked a bit sketchy, especially having young children. And we were surprised that most restaurants were closed by 8:00 on a Saturday night.

Oak Harbour is an excellent base for exploring local parks...
Oak Harbour is an excellent base for exploring local parks such as Fort Eby and Deception Pass, to name two of the many spectacular places nearby. Also, the ferry to Port Townsend is a few miles away and one can take a day trip, leaving the car behind in Coupeville, and wander Port Townsend’s architecturally interesting downtown and waterfront without having to wait in line with a car. Foot passengers just walk on! No reservations required. This area is definitely worth a few days of exploring. The town itself has a wonderful park on the waterfront, and for those with small kiddos, the park sports a world class playground and sprinkler park. Because it’s the “big town” in the area, it has lots of amenities as well as the usual cutesy tourist places. There are choices of places to eat and just about any kind of service you need available.

There are no stunning mountains or grand canyons but Whidbey Island is a very nice and friendly place. I look forward to my visits and there are nice parks, beaches for every sun direction, impressive long views and the same bad food as every American town.

It’s changed since I lived there many years ago. It’s lost it’s small town appeal. Chain stores have run all the mom and pop businesses out. It’s just another plaza/mall town set in a used -to-be-nice location

We liked the location, in the historic area of town -- it felt like a sweet home rather than hotel-ish, very walkable. BUT the nicest bedroom is upstairs, which is fine, but there's no bathroom up there. (There's room to put one in, hint, hint.) For older people, that's not really workable. We were two friends, so we took the two downstairs bedrooms, with twin beds, and it was fine. It was an easy drive north to a gorgeous walk through the park and south to a lovely sea-view restaurant.
We've been staying at this hotel at least 6-7 times in the last 10 years, as we liked location, rooms, service, breakfast. This time we were disappointed with our experience and will be looking for a different hotel on our next trip to Oak Harbor.
The Hotel is situated at the north boundary of Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island, from where either the downtown area or Deception Pass State Park is quickly reached.
The bed, room and hotel reception was a cut above the rest. We enjoyed the free coffee & breakfast options. No street noise and never heard our neighbours.
