I loved the hotel—great value for the price. The location was perfect, close to all the main attractions in New Orleans. The staff were incredibly polite, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. I especially appreciated Charlene at the front desk. She went above and beyond, helping us with directions and giving us great advice on how to handle our late checkout. Her warm attitude and expertise really stood out.

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, in the heart of the Deep South, the ‘Big Easy’ is being regenerated in the wake of devastating hurricane Katrina.

One area relatively unscathed was Bourbon Street – where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars interspersed by others offering more colourful nightlife. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by the Disney-esque St Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD skyscrapers and beside them is the huge Louisiana Superdome sports venue. Booking.com has several hotels near the Superdome, including some on Canal Street – a historic road where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou – the typical wetlands of the state.

Go to the city park, visit the botanical gardens. I highly recommend"Toast" for breakfast! If you have the means and are a foodie the Commanders Palace is amazing! You absolutely must go to Cafe Du Monde for beignets and wonder the french quarter and see places like Jackson Square. You need to go to the WWII museum and take a tour.

We totally enjoyed the minibus tour and the river boat cruise. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the history and everything about the areas we saw. We went on the Cajun Queen and the food and staff were excellent. Recommend using Uber if you can it is better than the taxis.

The crime is high, the cops harass you and profile you no matter the race, and will find any reason to ticket you they are broke here to the point they can not even solve homicide cases past or current!!!!! starting with simple fingers prints! They built a light show for the bridge but have 0 housing for the homeless out mounted in need!! Yes come for fun but be ready to be robbed , harassed and most likely scammed! The mayor is doing her best but it’s the cops just don’t come here using a rental car or personal car with Louisiana plates you’ll be targeted even if you traveled from Shreveport!!!

Until they start cleaning up the city and the crime, and put on a better FACE, there are a LOT better cities to spend you hard working money on. An it's a shame. New Orleans has SO MUCH to offer. Just recently returned from Paris and the history and similarities are immense. Food, architecture, history, flavor, entertainment. I told someone who asked me about New Orleans, and my response was, "Paris is New Orleans with its s____ Together...

Overall it is a really nice small trips, the three days was sufficient to see the city. I had known that August and September are the months where the weather is unpredictable, I would not have visited. The last day it was dry so you really get the enjoy the atmosphere better with jazz music on the street etc.

The Balcony Guest House is the PERFECT place to stay in New Orleans. Between the very authentic and full of nice bars and delicious restaurants Bywater and Faubourg Marigny neighborhoods, very close from the French Quarter, the Mississipi river, Treme... It was quiet but we had everything we needed once in the street. It is very easy to check-in/check-out. You are totally autonomous but the staff can be as well really available if needed. I highly recommand !

The location was really great. We had a blast visiting New Orleans. Being close to Canal street while at the Sonder, we were able to quickly access the RTA trolley system and also were close enough to the French Quarter to walk there and back. Beautiful and clean location. Would definetely visit again.
