FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, in the heart of the Deep South, the ‘Big Easy’ is being regenerated in the wake of devastating hurricane Katrina.

One area relatively unscathed was Bourbon Street – where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars interspersed by others offering more colourful nightlife. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by the Disney-esque St Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD skyscrapers and beside them is the huge Louisiana Superdome sports venue. Booking.com has several hotels near the Superdome, including some on Canal Street – a historic road where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou – the typical wetlands of the state.

On my trip to New Orleans, I enjoyed the French Quarter...

On my trip to New Orleans, I enjoyed the French Quarter stretches out before me, an intricate web of history and culture. The buildings are like faded paintings—colorful, ornate, and standing proudly despite their weathered edges. There's a mix of French, Spanish, and Creole influences there, a blend that feels both old-world and impossibly lively. The street seems alive, every corner buzzing with music and a lot of restaurants with so many delicious and diverse dishes. The whole experience of my trip to New Orleans was superb.

Great city with TONS of delicious restaurants and a funky, stylish vibe. Loved The Columns, The Husky and Cure for drinks and nibbles. Horrible traffic, roads and parking. I'd love it better if a helicopter could just plop me down in the city without me having to drive in it. Instead, take the streetcar, taxis and/or Uber.

We live in Southwest Louisiana and have visited New Orleans...

We live in Southwest Louisiana and have visited New Orleans for nearly 50 years. There is an endless array of activities and entertainments that change as we have changed and aged. There is nightlife for all ages, wonderful food, beautiful architecture and history. Uber and Lyft make getting around very easy, but the French Quarter is very walkable. As with any other big city you need to exercise judgement in choosing where to go. Staying alert and aware of your surroundings (and staying mostly sober lol) is very important.

A little bit disappointed by the kind of music.

A little bit disappointed by the kind of music. I was expected more jazz and blues ... to much noise and rock and roll in restaurants. It is too bad that new generations doesn't continue what was the best music.

We dedicated a week in New Orleans for a birthday celebration. The city's vibrant atmosphere and rich historical tapestry are truly remarkable; however, it is the warmth and hospitality of the local residents that enhance the experience. Throughout our time engaging in various tourist activities, we consistently felt welcomed and valued. It goes without saying that the culinary offerings are exceptional. I strongly recommend considering this destination a priority on your bucket list, as it warrants booking a visit.

Best Hotel on our trip through the South. Modern, super clean, lots of space, well equipped and pretty quiet. It's very close to the "Hood" but fenced parking area, a doorman and Security from Hospital next door gives you a good feeling. It's just 10 min to French Quarter and Canal St. Unbeatable at this price, will recommend it to everyone who likes to visit NO.

The location was fantastic, next to the French Quarter and also Frenchmen Street but quiet at the same time. Just perfect. The building was beautiful, a grand mansion perfectly in keeping with New Orleans, with trendy, modern décor. The pool was great, really refreshing at the end of a long sightseeing day. The staff were really friendly.

The hotel is an older facility but is located in the heart of the French Quarter. We had an interior room which cut down on the street noise, which can be considerable at night in New Orleans. The room was comfy and had everything we needed. The one breakfast we ate in the hotel restaurant was OK but not fantastic.

The hotel is located in the Warehouse District - a good location for accessing many parts of New Orleans on foot - including the WWII museum (5 min walk), Canal Street, Bourbon Street, the water front and the French Quarter (20 min walk). There are also some nice restaurants nearby for dinner and lunch.
