The hotel was closed when we arrived. We were relocated to another hotel. There was no prior notice, and there was nothing online reporting the closure. Staff were on hand for our arrival, but apparently left as soon as we departed for the other hotel. It was another IHG hotel, slightly higher rated, and only a few blocks away. Staff did have a transfer letter for us to take to the other hotel.

Long Island City is a very mixed neighbourhood - industrial, working class, and areas being gentrified. Not everyone would feel comfortable walking around the neighborhood. But there is hip stuff developing.

We loved the Museum of the Moving Image.
We loved the Museum of the Moving Image. I am a frequent museum go-er but had never heard of this museum. Since it was right around the corner from where we were staying, my husband and I decided to go -- and were we ever surprised and impressed. We could have spent all day there. Words can't describe how great this place is. If you are a movie or TV buff, this is a must-see. Even if you are not (like me), you should still go. I'm sure you'll be bowled over with this place.
