Finlen Hotel and Motor Inn, hotel in Butte

Featuring a bar and free WiFi, Finlen Hotel and Motor Inn is located in Butte, Montana. The World Museum of Mining is 7 minutes' drive away.

The hotel has a tower and a motel. My wife and I were at the top of the tower in a cute apartment. Our kids were in the motel section. My wife and i enjoyed a couple of drinks at the hotel bar while our kids went to a movie. For some unknown reason, our reservation was cancelled by Booking.com. The receptionist on duty when we arrived was a rock star helping us get into the rooms she had left.

There was plenty to see but this was just an overnight stay. Ate dinner at Sparky's. Great food and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast at Hanging Five was excellent. We try to support local businesses, so we mostly eat at local places. Wish we had more time to explore.

The Granite Mountain Memorial was particularly moving.

The Granite Mountain Memorial was particularly moving. It included letters written to loved ones by miners who were trapped by a tragic fire. Our trolley tour from 1000 George Street, led by a Butte native, gave us an informative overview of the city's diverse and oftentimes colorful history.

This was our first time in Butte and we were impressed by its old buildings and beauty. We ordered pasta bowls and received no utensils. The gentleman down at the desk gave us a plastics spark. We were just glad to rest a bit and leave for the rest of our trip of a thousand miles.

Butte Ramada is an old tired Motel that is being renovated...

Butte Ramada is an old tired Motel that is being renovated while being occupied. There was pallets of new flooring in the lobby. The front desk guy was brand new and did not know much. The toilet seat was worn down to wood. There was no plug for the tub so I had to use a rag in a bag. The sheets were stained. The floor was new but the tub and toilet were 50 years old. I would replace the fixtures before replacing the flooring if I was really going to make it what it once was. The common area were very messy. The breakfast bar was minimal. Ramada should be embarrassed.

The most history in the state crammed into one town.

The most history in the state crammed into one town. Take time to explore uptown Butte. You will not be disappointed. Great food at locally owned restaurants. So much history and culture. I love this town!! Eat at Metals and M&M. But take a pasty home from Joe’s. Don’t forget to go to the Freeway Cafe and get chicken at the KOA campground. I could go on and on. Take the walking tour and visit the pit.

Fast check-in, which could be done online, saving from the hassle to wait in the queue. They offered me early check-in after my request, even if the hotel was very busy those days. The staff is very polite and always helpful in suggesting food options and ordering a taxi to the airport. The room was specious and very clean.

Property is a bit dated but the rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Great price. Walking distance to some local pubs. Wish we had more time to explore the city of Butte more. We would stay at this property again. Staff was also very friendly.

What made this a good stay was the helpful staff. The night staff were super in finding us a room and cleaning it at the last minute as we had arrived at midnight after a series of problems at a different hotel. This is a clean, basic hotel.
