The hotel is absolutely lovely—modern, spotless, and beautifully designed. It’s worth noting that the property has two sections, so be sure to book a room in the newer part for the best experience. The actual resort is quite Benidorm like. Very chavvy, every 10th shop is a cannabis shop which makes it feel very downmarket. Very very busy in evening and very seedy off the main drag if that's your thing.....The pavements were awful, not good for anyone with mobility issues, craters and trip hazards everywhere !! On the upside 100s of good quality restaurants main course £2.50 and quality not seedy massage rooms 1 hour massage £10 or less. Great shopping centre at central Samui just off Chaweng Beach Road. Taxis cheap , 1/3 of UK prices but you have to bargain with drivers. Beer £2 bottle - wine expensive and generally poor. Cocktails cheap.

Unfortunately there are no footpaths to walk safely to and from the hotel to the centre, so you will be reliant on taxis. This is the main shopping centre. There are numerous cafes and bars to choose from.

Very lively strip on Koh Samui.
Very lively strip on Koh Samui. Lots of shops, clubs, restaurants, bars, masssge, spa, markets, motor bike/jeep hire, beach. Basically everything!
Main Chawing road & footpaths , & leading out of town a bit run down & ugly looking. Could do with a major facelift.

First off, our hotel was located in Bo Phut, which is adjacent to Chaweng. Nevertheless, my review applies to both locations.
The northern end of Koh Samui is overbuilt, which is putting it mildly. Traffic is a nightmare and there are almost as many foreign tourists/residents as there are locals. There are numerous very nice beaches, hence the attraction, but there are simply too many people. The overall atmosphere is more "party" than "retreat", very much like Phuket.
The southern part of the island is very nice, but we found only one beach. That beach had a spectacular view and a very nice restaurant, but swimming was limited to a very small area.
We also hiked up to the Hin Lad waterfall. The hike was not for the weak of heart, but the waterfall was the best I've seen in Thailand. The hike itself through dense tropical rain forest made the excursion well worth the effort required.

Chaweng town center is quiet in morning, busy and noisy at night. Plenty of bars, restaurants available, in close proximity. Multiple money exchange booths available if you run out of cash. Samui Central (in Chaweng town center) is excellent - plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, grocery/food hall outlet, clothes, electronics, etc. Close to markets if that is your thing. Live music in several locations. Just be careful walking on the sidewalk ... many, many trip hazards - watch where you walk. I found 'The Duke' bar good (a little south of main center on main road), both live music and good food. Aussie Bondi bar (good food), The Palms (live music).

An absolute must do is the elephant sanctuary where you can swim with rescued elephants, having been mistreated by previous owners they are absolutely the friendliest wild animal you will ever meet an experience you will Rember for the rest of your life.

The location of the property was excellent - it was on Chaweng beach itself with close proximity to all bars, restaurants. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choice for all kinds of eaters and the children’s character dishes were a nice touch. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There was on site laundry, masseuses, nails, shop, restaurant and bar. Chaweng Garden Beach Resort is an excellent place to base yourself for your trip to Koh Samui.
As a solo traveller, The Stay was amazing! Location to Chaweng Beach and the main strip of Koh Samui was excellent. 10min taxi to and from the airport. The staff were excellent, ensured that I had all relevant information about the resort's services, my room was kept in clean & fantastic condition, delicious breakfast provided every morning. Highly recommend.
For the money the hotel was brilliant, the location was great, right by the main strip, far enough out it was quiet as well. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Overall really happy with my stay. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to Koh Samui
Nice resort hotel, one end on the beach the other on the main road though Chaweng, so excellent location Counter staff and Secunity staff helpful and friendly.
