The place was under renovation during my stay. Lots of construction materials all around and noise during the day. This was not announced in the website. To my surprise, I was not able to cancel the reservation after discovering that it was under renovation, unless I paid 60% of the value of the reservation.
Despite that, they had dinner, at an extra amount, and food was amazingly good.

The staff were super kind, the location was perfect, and the wifi was great!! Nice breakfast with a view of the river and mountains. They also can prepare you other meals if you ask in advance. And it included an airport pickup and drop off. Bed was firm and comfortable and a/c was very strong. All around great service for a reasonable price, right in the town and I was able to use my credit card.

Absolutely everything. If I could rate them 20/10 I would. Principe was beyond belief but Lucia, Michael, jose Luiz, Amilcar and co. were icing on my cake. Lots of icing.

Amazing location! The view is the highlight. Principe Island is special and Atalaia helped us experience it in a unique way without the sterile resorts. The hosts are very responsive and will help with any arrangements and questions. You need to be independent, self sufficient and understand that this is an off-the-grid establishment with comfort limitations. Rain-water supply, solar power and difficult 4wd roads are part of the adventure. It has a fridge for cold beer though! I personally think you have to have your own 4wd car and have the skill to drive around the island. Arranging multiple trips to and from Atalaia would be impractical.

The hotel is a work in progress converting a prior cocoa/coffee plantation into a hotel with some building converted and others in planning. If you want the experience of plantation life, it excels. Kudos to the hotel for all it is doing to support the small population on Principe Island - not just employment, but education, healthcare, road improvements.

Superb location, with amazing views, right at the entrance of the park. Lucindo and Marie are wonderful hosts, very attentive and available. And Marie is a fantastic cook. The roça has unbelievable trees, vegetables, fruits, coffee, spices… all cultivated by Lucindo and his family, that live nearby. You have the feeling of being in the jungle, but with the comfort of being very close to the community. It’s also very close to Cascata O Quê Pipi (30 min walk) and the Bunbu beach (15 min).

If it would be for the staff and location the rate would be greater! It is hard to get there, but that’s part of its beauty. The staff is the best! Very welcoming and friendly. They cooked us very good dinner meals and are always with the biggest smile on their faces :) the bungalows are simple but spacious and clean!
