The Mira Rio is an overall very well serviced hotel with small, but cute rooms. The location in front of the river is amazing and the comfort is very ok. Beds are good and A/C working when there's no power cut (that's the case everywhere). Showers absolutely OK.

The hotel manager was very friendly and helpful. She provided more useful information about excursion options in 3 minutes than had been provided by email in the previous 3 months (see below). She made us feel welcome and so I feel sad having to write the negatives in the rest of this review, as I do really appreciate her kindness and I can see she is trying her best. The location is spectacular, there is no denying. The views from the main building, along with the access to Banana Beach are unrivalled on Principe - this is the biggest selling point. Principe has so much potential. So does Belo Monte; the grounds are beautiful and the setting unlike many other places in the world, but the hotel itself is farcical. As you'll read below, there are just too many deal breakers.

Quinta Santa Rita is a reasonably-priced hotel located near Principe's airport and within a short drive of the main town of Santo Antonio. The rooms are clean and comfortable and a breakfast is provided every morning. The owner is very friendly and helped me find a rental car when I arrived without reserving one. Travel tip: The center of town where the restaurants and shops are located is quite a distance from the hotel, so a rental car (preferably a 4X4) is necessary unless you're on a guided tour.

Paulo from sales was super helpful finding alternatives to the challanges we faced due to changes on flights. The chef as done tailored vegan meals for us every night...which was fantastic. Betty and Alcides are really nice people and very accommodating. The balcony faci g the forest is nice and we manage to see some parrots close to the end of the day.

We loved absolutely all: the location (like on the edge of the world), The view (so beautiful that can not be described, this has to be seen by oneself). Uninterrupted singing of all the birds (all in all 176 breeds counted on the island), day and night - it was so magnificent. The lovely hippie house with the view - the million dollar one! And above all "our man" on the island - Vivi. Always smiling and happy, helpful. Always there for us. And his wife Marisette, who prepared so delicious dishes for us and kept good company with smiles and talks. We did not share any common language, but who cares when there is a will to communicate. We managed well! And there were a Caipirinha guy and Pico Papagaio guy ( we could not remember their names) who were helping and smiling addition to our family in Principe. And last, but not least - friedly owner Chris, who helped us from afar. We are so thankful for this beautiful opportunity to stay in paradise with these beautiful people.
