Good set up, small but had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable enough, it had a fridge and a kitchenette that fulfilled our needs.
The host was nice and tried to accommodate our needs, for example when we asked him for an Iron.
It’s really close from Porto da Cruz town, which is lovely and has a stunning beach and manmade pools with pumped water from the ocean. However, the closest big supermarket is 15mins away by car, in Santana.

The room was spacious, with a large balcony. The price also included a jacuzzi and a swimming pool (indoor). The breakfast was delicious, with a choice of boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms and sausage (hot food). In addition, sausage, cheese, tomato, muesli, yoghurt, fruit salad, sweet pastries, etc.
The location was convenient. The bathroom had a spacious bathtub.
Facing the beachfront, White Waters Hotel offers 3-star accommodation in Machico and features a terrace, restaurant and bar.

You can’t miss Porto da Cruz when visiting Madeira!
You can’t miss Porto da Cruz when visiting Madeira! It’s small but has a lot of character, I found it wasn’t too touristy which was a nice experience. Praia da Alagoa, although a rocky beach, was great for surfing! Plenty of places to rent boards from or take lessons nearby. We rented boards from the Jaca hostel (where we were staying) and salty which were both great value. Salty also rented hard boards which were great fun for us intermediate surfers. We also went to the furna do porta da Cruz which is a beach pavilion. This was really nice as it was a flat area to sunbathe, but you can also swim (or jump) into the water from there. It also was not overcrowded and seemed more like a locals area which was nice.
We ate out in the Snack Bar a Pipa located next to the Jaca Hostel, which was very busy. Food and atmosphere was really good, however only 1 vegetarian option on the menu. We also ate out at Vila Bella restaurant which was great and overlooked the sea. We stayed in Porto da Cruz for 2 nights and I think we would’ve liked to stay longer!

A small but very cozy town.
A small but very cozy town. Has few local supermarkets, few good restaurants and snack bars with a perfect food. Amazing rock views. Also you must visit a Madeira rum factory, that is located in this town and taste it. This town has 2 beaches and 1 local natural pool.

Unspoilt, charming town with beautiful views of the sea. Excellent restaurants serving fresh, traditional food at very reasonable prices.
Great sea water swimming pool and coastline walks.
Not easy if you’re using public transport as buses are infrequent.

Sleepy little fishing village surrounded by sloping hills...
Sleepy little fishing village surrounded by sloping hills and sheer cliffs. Magnificent scenery around. Ideal for surfers. Pleasant climate when we visited in April. Flowers all around in full bloom. If you're looking for an active holiday hiking in nature and tranquil evenings, this is the place to come. Having a head for heights is a bonus. Or take gentler trails to get used to sometimes dizzying drops at your own pace. We stayed outside of Porto da Cruz in a little house about 20 mins walk away nestling on a green hill that sloped gently into a valley. Small streams abound taking water down to the sea. Expect birdsong everywhere, especially in the mornings punctuated with cocks crowing from small farmsteads peppered around the slopes. Frogs also joined in with their springtime mating calls trilling the air. Food was simple but from high quality local produce. We'd recommend this area and a visit to Madeira to those needing to get back to nature and a sustainable approach to life. Not too much litter in and around the town. Either local groups clearing up or tourists in general are conscious and careful to respect the natural beauty of the environment by leaving as little trace of their passing as possible.

Very nice place to meet other travelers! The vibe was very good, everybody was open to talking and hanging out. But it was quiet in the evenings (from 23h I would say) so you can also find some rest if you need to.
Porto da Cruz is beautiful, the hostel has a great location next to a little restaurant and bakery and the swimming pool was basically around the corner.
Also, the staff is very nice! They organized a burger night!
Great house in a very nice village. The house has all you need in a house during holidays. The host took really good care of us. Porto da Cruz is an ideal place to stay. We felt very welcome and at home.
Very nice hotel on wonderful coast of Madeira under big mountain hill. Very friendly and helpful staff including Mr. manager and young lady at the reception.
