I was surprised how clean San Juan and other areas of Puerto Rico were. Very little graffiti and litter. We felt very safe there as there was a strong police presence. But the best part was the people. Everyone was super nice and helpful. I don’t speak Spanish, but folks would speak English for us. We even went to Walmart and talked to folks there. I really liked my Puerto Rico vacation and will return.
Tip: visit Panderìa Españia in Carolina. You won’t regret it. It’s a Spanish bakery that serves delicious pastries and has a deli and dinner entrees. We ate there almost every day once we discovered it. Wow. See the picture.

Extremely crowded with people & cars. Lots of smog.
Extremely crowded with people & cars. Lots of smog. We're there in January. Must be high season. Was told by neighbors that had been there that it was a high crime area. Not true for us. Felt very safe. Lots of women walking around by themselves. Plenty of Police. Would recommend the safety.
Booked a Viator excursion that was a Scavenger Hunt. The Let's Roam app proved to be very time consuming & confusion. We quit using after finding 1st place. Frustration. Was close to the old Fort. Enjoyed that walk around.
Would only come back when half as many people were around.

We loved the San Juan Condado area!
We loved the San Juan Condado area! It’s a vibrant and lively neighborhood, offering a perfect blend of great dining, shopping, and convenient access to the beach. While the beaches weren’t as stunning as we expected, the water itself was pretty and inviting. The area has a great mix of both modern and traditional Puerto Rican culture, making it feel welcoming and full of character. We also found plenty of fantastic restaurants and shops just a short walk away, which made it very convenient to explore.
For other visitors, be prepared for crowds—while the area is lively and fun, it can get a bit crowded, especially around the beach, so it’s best to arrive early to get a good spot on the sand. Don’t miss out on trying some delicious Puerto Rican dishes as many fantastic local restaurants offer great food.
Comfortable shoes are a must for walking around, whether strolling along the beach or checking out local shops. Bring sunscreen and stay hydrated as you enjoy the area.

Weather at Dec - Jan was super for us wanting to escape the gray of Finland and to see some sun and feel the tropical warmth. Make sure to book a car in time - you will need it as one can not rely the public transportation ; at best it's super good and comfy - at worst you might not be able to travel whole day especially outside the main streets of San Juan. Ride sharing is also not too reliable method (getting a driver, especially in busy hours). Local people are super friendly and helpful - let them make your stay enjoyable :) Also, make sure to visit rest of the county - best things are outside San Juan!

Old San Juan is beautiful.
Old San Juan is beautiful. It has a gorgeous Spanish colonial architecture and lots of shopping. That being said, it's very touristy, which many shops selling variations of the same things and overpriced and mediocre restaurants - you'll find much better food in Condado, Miramar, and other neighborhoods.
If I could go back in time, I would have spent three days in San Juan - one for Old San Juan, one for the beach, and the third in either the beach or the old city. After that, it's better to spend time in other parts of Puerto Rico.

the place is beautiful! The team is really hospitable and helpful, the rooms are large and airy, all facilities worked well, bed was super comfy, rooftop lounge and open bar were excellent. It was a really nice stay and i will certainly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in the middle of old San Juan.
Best value we have found in San Juan where we have stayed numerous times and where hotels are generally overpriced and poor. This is the best of its type we have found. Dont be put off by the 3 star rating, This is better than any so called4 star we have stayed at in San Juan. Great overnight hotel.
All the staff were very friendly and attentive to all of my needs. The room and all over the hotel was spotless very clean. Had restaurants and bars at site with great food and drinks will definitely be returning next time I’m in Puerto Rico!
Good location near Santurce. The first room we had did not have hot water but we were able to change room for the second night so that was nice. The public buses run right outside the hotel and takes you all the way to Old San Juan.
Gorgeous hotel with excellent staff. The pool is gorgeous, location right on the beach was increíble and the beach bar served tasty food. would highly recommend.
