FAQs about hotels in Warsaw

Always on the Move

A city on the move, Warsaw is constantly changing in an effort to rebuild what was lost during World War II. There’s no better example of this than the stunning Old Town Square, where pastel facades sit alongside dome-topped spires.

Starting here is the Royal Route which passes several historic buildings on its way out to Wilanów, where an ornate Royal Palace is set in a huge park that was the retreat of kings since the 17th century. Just as grandiose is the Palace of Culture and Science, Stalin’s gift to Warsaw that still manages to evoke feelings of hatred and love in equal measure. Go up to the terrace for panoramic city views.

Other cultural features are the Warsaw Uprising Museum, considered the best museum in Poland, and traditional bars that still serve down-to-earth food washed down with a shot of vodka - a throwback to the Communist era. Don’t expect to find a seat though – there aren’t any.

Warsaw also has a thriving club scene and more shopping centers than you could throw a stick at. Not that you’d want to, as you’ll be too busy picking up the bargains.

Just outside the city is Warsaw Airport, efficiently linked by public transport to the city’s hotels, guest houses and hostels, available on Booking.com.

The city is very clean, and easy to walk around with plenty to see. There were plenty of eating places to eat, from local to many foreign cafés. The two favourites were, "The British Bulldog" and the "Irish" sports bars. The old town is a must-see area.

We weren't expecting the Christmas lights as it was a few weeks after, but they were lovely, and a popular attraction for people who weren't there before Christmas. The old town is spectacular.

Been before. Love the Old Town though it was rebuilt after the war. Love to walk round, get exercise and discover things even the local markets .Modern day city in the middle with glass buildings and modern shops. Cheap transport system if you look into getting tickets to look around. Building in the centre iconic and always love to take pictures of it. Lovely restaurants too

Old town is lovely. I enjoyed the Royal Castle. Great food and shopping. If you’re an English speaker you might find the train station confusing. I would recommend giving yourself a little extra time to find your train.

In the heart of the Old Town, you can find excellent restaurants and enjoy national cuisine. Getting to your desired destination is easy, as you can travel by bus, metro or tram. This is convenient even in the cold season. Museums are inexpensive, making them convenient to travel to and visit for the whole family.

For me Warsaw is somewhat both the symbol of the Cold War...

For me Warsaw is somewhat both the symbol of the Cold War and WWII. The image of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with its eternal flame, and the Palace of Culture and Science reinforces this image. But this also part of the attraction of Warsaw. In autumn it has a certain gloom about it outdoor, but plenty of nice restaurants and pubs. Warsaw is a bit spread out - and the avenues are big. Still, it is easy to get around. Whereas the Old Town was rebuild after World War 2, it is still a nice place to visit. Plenty of parks and museums. Note all the well-kept cobble stones, walls and foundations, and the well-maintained drain pipes.
