I was exhausted when I got to Tahiti and the bed in the room was more than comfortable enough for me to get some good sleep. My only complaint is that the bed is on wheels which means when you sit up, the bed moves away from the wall.

It was a fabulously central location but nice and quiet situation. Lovely amenities in the house and the hosts couldn’t do enough for you
Offering a sun terrace and views of the garden, Fare D'hôtes Tutehau is situated in the Farii piti neighborhood. It is 15 minutes' walk from the heart of Papeete.

We had a very good time , we rented a car for 2 days and took a boat tour 1 day . The boat tour was way too long in choppy water (3 1/2 hours one way ) and nothing interesting there . Too shallow water for swimming and some birds to look at . Way too long trip for nothing . Tahiti itself has some waterfalls and the black sand beach . For me 2-3 days there is enough

This is a functioning port city.
This is a functioning port city. There are a few places where you can sit by the sea and watch the ships and boats but mainly facilities are across the very busy road.
People enjoy the large market but the town itself is hot, busy and dirty. At night there are many rough sleepers.
This is not a pretty colonial style town. The best bet is to take a ferry to the islands asap.

The town of Papeete is very nice and the people are very friendly and welcoming. Had it not been for our unacceptable accommodations, we would have loved our stay in Papeete. If you go, be sure to stay at a reputable hotel and avoid private Air B&B places. We ended up staying at a dump and no hotel rooms were available because of a cruise that was leaving the next day.

Papeete at first glance could be a nice place to stay.
Papeete at first glance could be a nice place to stay. Warm weather, good food and drinks. Seafront promenade is just gorgeous. But a lot of homeless people and dogs are as decay for the city. Well, some of the US cities like Phili are the same...

The French influence in Tahiti is everywhere and I loved it.
The French influence in Tahiti is everywhere and I loved it. Food is amazing, I had great meals out and the Carrefour supermarkets are better stocked than my local supermarkets here in the UK. I just liked the vibe. There are lots of places to eat and drink, decent shopping to be had and I liked the people. The port where you can catch boats to other islands is in town too!

I enjoyed the Markets the most and the street stalls.
I enjoyed the Markets the most and the street stalls.
I loved the fresh pastries - especially the bread sticks
I found finding a place in town was better for us, as the cost for taxi's was very pricey.
I would avoid staying out in the suburbs and ensure to have an offline currency converter handy as there were times i got caught off guard and ended paying double the amount I intended.
2017 on our stopover from the Tuamotus we stayed at Faire Suisse. We were impressed then and more so now. We stayed in the new extension and although basic it is exceptionally clean and comfortable. The location is ideal with walking access to central Papette, the marina and Champion supermarket. Their airport shuttle is a great service that is very well organised. The new restaurant/bar has a great atmosphere. Fantastic to see that they have expanded the hotel, as they deserve to do well, as they provide great service.
Location is convenient and within walking distance to town. Enjoyed gym facility with access straight into the pool. Luggage storage on check-out before we got picked up later in the afternoon was so convenient and at no extra cost. Mauruuru Hotel Tahiti Nui.
The property is a reasonable walk from main shopping area but doable. Supermarket very close and also a Total Service station with Bon Jour shop & coffee. Transfer from port to hotel and then hotel to airport were efficiently arranged.
Perfect place when arriving in Tahiti as a first stop. When raveling around the islands this is the last hotel you will see as we know it in Europe. And in pretty Tahitian style to get used to it:)!
