Boutique Hôtel Kon Tiki Tahiti provides accommodations in Papeete near Plage Hokule'a and Paofai Gardens.

We only stayed one night on arrival but we enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room was big and clean and comfortable. Great location — easy to walk to things around town and so convenient for our first night so we could just walk across the street after check out and get on the ferry. Breakfast was great too! All around a nice stay.

Royal Tahitien, hotel in Papeete

Royal Tahitien is located on Tahiti’s eastern coast, along the lovely lagoon which faces the Island of Moorea.

Old world charm. The grounds are lovely with all the trees and bushes. The buildings are positioned so everyone has a view but from your patio you don't see into anyone else's room. Pool was very nice.

Vairea was very kind and helpful. The location is perfect as it’s not far outside the city centre. Within walking distance and yet far enough from the noise. We enjoyed watching the sky change colours at sunset.

Grand Large - cosy studio, hotel in Papeete

Just a 16-minute walk from Plage Hokule'a and 0.9 miles from Paofai Gardens, Grand Large - cosy studio features accommodations in Papeete, with a fitness center and an open-air bath.

The view is lovely from this studio apt.. It is up a steep hill, which we were able to easily walk down to the nearby Hilton to be picked up for an excursion around the island. We took a taxi back up, after dinner that evening, so you don't have to have a car. The room is large and well-equipped; not fancy, but good value in Papeete, and perfect for our two nights before our cruise. Our host answered all questions quickly via WhatsApp.

Papeete is overpopulated with very busy traffic.

Papeete is overpopulated with very busy traffic. The town feels very "tired" with many areas in disrepair. The prices of everything are outrageously expensive. Unfortunately the locals have to pay the same prices. Finding places to eat was also difficult as there was no where to park close to the venue. Apparently tourism in Tahiti is not doing so well. I'm not surprised with the cost of everything. The so-called scenic sights were a let down and any "must-do" activities cost you an arm and a leg. Should have been there twenty years ago. Would not recommend going to Tahiti. The Cook Islands are a better option in my opinion.

The location, climate and waterfront is great.

The location, climate and waterfront is great. The actual town of Papeete, one street in from the waterfront, is shabby, bordering on slummy with lots of homeless people sleeping on the streets. That said, we didn't as a family, encounter any bother from the homeless.

We had a very good time , we rented a car for 2 days and took a boat tour 1 day . The boat tour was way too long in choppy water (3 1/2 hours one way ) and nothing interesting there . Too shallow water for swimming and some birds to look at . Way too long trip for nothing . Tahiti itself has some waterfalls and the black sand beach . For me 2-3 days there is enough

This is a functioning port city.

This is a functioning port city. There are a few places where you can sit by the sea and watch the ships and boats but mainly facilities are across the very busy road. People enjoy the large market but the town itself is hot, busy and dirty. At night there are many rough sleepers. This is not a pretty colonial style town. The best bet is to take a ferry to the islands asap.

The town of Papeete is very nice and the people are very friendly and welcoming. Had it not been for our unacceptable accommodations, we would have loved our stay in Papeete. If you go, be sure to stay at a reputable hotel and avoid private Air B&B places. We ended up staying at a dump and no hotel rooms were available because of a cruise that was leaving the next day.

Papeete at first glance could be a nice place to stay.

Papeete at first glance could be a nice place to stay. Warm weather, good food and drinks. Seafront promenade is just gorgeous. But a lot of homeless people and dogs are as decay for the city. Well, some of the US cities like Phili are the same...

2017 on our stopover from the Tuamotus we stayed at Faire Suisse. We were impressed then and more so now. We stayed in the new extension and although basic it is exceptionally clean and comfortable. The location is ideal with walking access to central Papette, the marina and Champion supermarket. Their airport shuttle is a great service that is very well organised. The new restaurant/bar has a great atmosphere. Fantastic to see that they have expanded the hotel, as they deserve to do well, as they provide great service.

The hotel is located on a black sand beach. The restaurant and bar overlook the beach and in the evening, weather permitting there are beautiful sunsets. There is a shuttle that takes you from the hotel to Papeete, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Make sure you book at reception.

Location is half way between the airport and Papeete downtown. Located across the road from Pacific Plaza, which houses a large supermarket and pharmacy. There is a bus service from outside the resort to downtown. The resort and rooms are maintained in excellent condition.
