Host Fergus was very good at sharing where to see birds, nearby tracks. Loved the track down to the beach, an interesting glimpse of rainforest. Cabin was comfortablly appointed. Yea!, for fly screens!
Nice friendly grocery, cafe, petrol store around the corner -- with postcards & stamps for a rainy morning.

The excellent quality of the accommodation, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The manager, Ollie, was understanding, kind and helpful he went beyond what we would have expected.
Guests staying at Catlins Newhaven Holiday Park are a 5-minute walk from Surat Bay, a long sand beach in Newhaven, where you may be lucky enough to see a Hooker Sea Lion.

Loved this small and ideally located holiday park. Right on the beach where we saw sea lions and other wildlife. The accommodation was as described and very clean and the staff were welcoming. We particulalry liked the picnic tables outside each unit and the kitchen and recreation/lounge area. The park is very well set out so there is real privacy for each pitch/unit.
Catlins Retreat B & B is situated in Owaka. Featuring garden and quiet street views, this guest house also includes free WiFi. Guests can access the guest house via private entrance.

Everything we needed for our stay.
We also found a wonderful store that did Fabulous meals and very special decorated ice creams. Now we had been total there wasn't anything within 10 kilometers away.
This was within walking distance around the corner petrol too.

Remote and quiet location with good road access, beautiful views from the cottage, very comfortable, cozy and tastefully decorated. Everything is there for convenience, but you have to bring your own food, it was helpfully mentioned by ownwrs prior arrival.
A lot of walks in the area, waterfalls etc.
Books, board games, DVDs or just break from busy life - whatever taste.

Loved Lost Gypsy caravan and coffee beside it. Great place for kids and the Adult section well worth entry fee.
Cathedral caves and view from Florence hill exceptional. Lake Wilkie a treat. Papatowai has my vote for the best in the Catlins.
