The Hermitage Hotel Mt Cook, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Set in Mount Cook National Park, The Hermitage Hotel features a range of rooms and suites all offering majestic mountain views, and most with views of Mount Cook.

The staff are magnificent.Platinum service and a genuine professionalism that reflects so well the obviously high standards of the Hermitage Hotel Mt Cook management. My family and I unfortunately got caught in the snow at night in our car and with the temperature dropping fast my concern for the kids grew even faster. After calling the hotel reception a staff member was with us in minutes and got us safely back to the hotel.Early the next morning another two staff drove to the car to dig it out of the snow for us.Simply cant express enough the appreciation my family and I have for everything that the staff members did for us with no complaints and a reassurance that they had it under control.I will not use the names of those wonderful employees as I don't have permission from them to do so but I hope they know that we will remember not only the names but also how much they did to help us out of tight spot with grace and utter professionalism.I work in hospitality in administration and I can honestly say that I'd be lucky to have such dedicated and motivated staff working for our business.

Mount Cook Station Huts, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Honestly, i love the place. Its a revamp of old shepherding stations and i love how the current owners did up the place. Its very modern and cozy. Strong wifi actually. We visited in June, beginning of winter. The cabins: 1. We had our own cabins. Loved how the owners turned up the warmers in the cabin so the place was nice and toasty. The 2 twin beds, loved that they each had their own electric beddings.. 2. The cabin we had, had a tv and 2 armchairs. We enjoyed every episode of the nanny reruns we've watched there. Lol. 3. Cozy place. Very homey. We loved it. The Kitchen and Bathroom!: 1. This is in a separate cabin.. 2. Because we were the only guests during that period, it felt like we had the whole space to ourselves which was awesome. (But there's only 2 residence cabins so it shouldnt be a squeeze either.. not too sure if the other cabins on the estate uses the same space).. 3. The kitchen's very well equipped! It even has a portable grilling machine. Loved it. The usual drills of washing and cleaning up after yourself. #lovethat 4. The bathroom, now thats the VIP. Huge space, it had a wet and dry 'corner'.. big space to bathe, good supply of hot water.. electric heaters and clothes warmers. Very thoughtful of the owners. 5. We made sure to turn off every light and heating to conserve energy every night. The main morale of every bnb story is to take care of the place like u would your own home. The space: 1. The 2 to 3 nights we were there, super cloudy else it would have been an excellent place to view the southern lights cuz the cabins faces south. 2. U can star-gaze above as well.. i had a good 1 - 2 hrs of clear skies. Lol. 3. The owners stay nearby. Very friendly people! They have 3 dogs, very friendly as well. 4. The carpark is just below. Very close by, very convenient. 5. Huge space to walk around... we had a good walk to see the pet deers and sheeps. :) love it.

We had a great mid-winter trip to the village. It never fails to amaze. Most food types are covered but be careful with your expectations as to what restaurants cafes or bars are open for eating and drinking in the winter period.

We did a 19 day road trip around the lower North Island, and Mount Cook Village was my favourite place to stay. Id love to go back again some time. Sadly for us due to being delayed due to issues with the interislander we only got to stay here for one night. We took an amazing scenic flight and landed on the Tasman glacier. We had the perfect day for it. The smorgasbord restaurant at the Hermitage was fantastic, one of the better smorgasbord's Ive had. I would love to come back here some day and do some of the shorter walks around the area and just to experience this majestic place once more.

Being able to see the glacier from the top part of the village. Our fantastic day trip to Lake Tasman to get close to icebergs and and the glacier at one end of the lake. (not the glacier seen from the village).

The village is located in an amazing place. If are self catering while in the village you will need to bring your supplies with you. There is very limited grocery items for sale. There is a cafe and restaurant located in the Hermitage complex. The other dining places are closed.

There is limited accommodation at Mount Cook village and it is all expensive. There are many well marked and maintained paths from the road end which allow walks off between one hour and six hours to be safely undertaken. There are no shops or independent restaurants or food outlets, unless you are self catering, you will have to eat in the expensive hotels. The most economical way to visit would be by Campervan bringing all of your supplies with you The self catering options are limited to the motel, which is in my opinion, overpriced for the accommodation it offers.

Comfortable , quiet apartment which sleeps 4, park right outside. Basic kitchen enabled us to cook breakfast and alternate dinners and enjoy the buffet at the hotel too. Housekeeping visited every afternoon. Reception at the hotel organised for more kitchen equipment as we were missing a frypan. Bathroom fine with lots of hot water

In Mount Cook village are no possibilities to go out at night. This is why everyone in the hostel is gathering in the community areas and as a solo traveller you get easily in touch with other travellers. Very clean, very well equipped. Even offer blankets in case you get cold.

The nice lady introduced me to nearby restaurants to help me choose where to go for dinner. Although the facilities are no as good than other place. But I am satisfied to have such a hotel in village.
