Beautiful property and what a stunning location, absolute gem and will return very soon as me and my partner loved everything about it. Clean, had everything you need and the views…. Wow !
Best of all were the hosts Vicki and Clint…. Salt of the earth people who went way above and beyond with us, they made our stay that little bit better than anywhere I’ve stayed. Friendly, welcoming and we even shared a drink together whilst chatting all things life. I’d urge anyone wanting a get away in Matakana and surrounding areas to book this place. Also they have the best little bunch of pugs and a stunning boxer that were so friendly and lovable

Perfectly located for beautiful multiple beaches and handy places to visit. You need a car. Some of the nearby beaches (Tāwharanui here’s looking at you), you are best to plan to get there early - say by 9am on public holidays in super summery weather - for access and parking reasons (there is plenty of beach to go around!).. and take shade structures and sunscreen with you! Gorgeous though.

Matakana Village Market - a foodies paradise, lots of gluten-intolerant options. Highly recommend the GF crepes! (Even for non-Coeliacs.)
Sculptureum - great value for money, such an interesting unusual place to spend a couple of hours.
Donkeys at Highfield Gardens Reserve - a must for any animal lover. Only carrots, apples or spinach may be fed, so go prepared.
Take a drive to the local beaches. Omaha Beach is ideal to walk and stop for an ice cream or sorbet at the Superette.

Great little village with heaps to do and great Farmers' Market.
We hired ebikes to do the bike trail from Matakana to Omaha Beach, stopping of at the incredible Sculptureum and then Farmer's Daughter for lunch.
Drinks at #8 Wired cellar door and dinner at Sawmill Smoko Room, breakfast treats and fantastic coffee from Ringawera Bakery, and brunch at Market Kitchen... and that was just 2 days' worth!

Great little shops, cafes and restaurants. A short drive from the town and you find yourselves in Tawharanui Regional Park - a sanctuary for native birds, with walking tracks and lovely beaches. We stayed there for a night en route from Tauranga to Bay of Islands - and would definitely visit again.

A lovely village of shops, cafes, beautiful countryside and so near the sea.
We had dinner at the Matakana Market kitchen which was lovely, good food, great wine list, and good service considering the COVID short staff issues.

We can not talk highly enough about Michelle's Place. It is simply gorgeous. Situated close to Matakana but in the country. Amazing views. The accommodation itself is very tasteful and the most comfortable bed we slept on for our whole two week trip. If it wasn't so far from home for us I am sure we would become regulars!!
Spacious, clean villa with all the amenities I could think of and beautiful views! Added plus points were the pool and lovely leisure walk. It is also very close to Matakana village and Brick Bay
