While searching for comfortable place to stay with 6-year old child near Lake Tekapo area in New Zealand - we came across this gem and booked it.
We stayed in “Sherwood” cottage on the facility and had one of the most memorable experience. It had all required amenities including air conditioning in the family room and was within 1 hour distance from Lake Tekapo. It also has a nice patio where we enjoyed morning breakfast while listening to beautiful bird chirping.
Murray and Jackie were super friendly and accommodative of our asks. They seem to be taking great care of the facility.
Our 6 year old had a great time spinning on the private flying fox (zipline) and feeding pellets to alpacas that Jackie gave earlier in the day.
Pinewood Motels is a family owned and operated motel. Just a 5-minute walk from the heart of Fairlie, it offers an ideal base to explore the many attractions Tekapo and the Mackenzie district has to...
Loved Fairlie Bakery, pies are to die for.
Great fashion shops.
Loved the new year's day parade, took us back in time.
New coffee shop. Good Beans is exceptional. The best coffee and food. The owners know what they are doing.

Fairlie hasnt got buried by tourists yet- it is real and the locals are busy farm folk. There are a couple of good eating places (our favourite is the Library restaurant-changed hands but food still excellent). The supermarket is well stocked. We have done some of the walks with our kids before - the new bike tracks sound interesting-must try them out next time. The information place is a gem with a couple of bubbly ladies with helpful ideas.

Lovely little town away from tourist spots and really good value. Couple of pubs to eat at and a chinese and bakery and supermarket. We used it as a place to have a quiet day before going to Christchurch. Turned out much better than expected and after some rain it was beautiful to see all the snow covered mountains around the town.

Fairlie is a very small village with the main attractions being the alpaca farm (nice for families) and the local pie bakery, which has been hyped in social media. We found the pies being not above average, we had better ones in most places. The best thing about Fairlie was the Fairlie Holiday Park and its comfy rooms.

Fairlie is a cute town that is close to many other places such as Lake Tekapo and Timaru. It has a number of good shops and nice restaurants. When my partner and I came to stay we went to a restaurant called Carnegies and it does quite tasty pizzas. Fairlie Bakehouse is also a good place to stop by but be careful going at lunch time as it was extremely busy when we went at 12pm. We enjoyed reading the little info stands telling you about the history of Fairlie. There's also a place you can stay at (Rollesby accommodation) that has hot tubs, so lovely. Overall, would visit Fairlie again!

My mum and I had an amazing stay - it completely exceeded our expectations - we were arriving late and Erin prepared the apartment for us beautifully and even put the electric fireplace heater on - it was so cosy in there! We wish we could have stayed longer than one night. Beautiful location, great value for money, there’s everything you might need. Thank you Erin!

The motel units are a little dated but are very tidy, comfortable and warm. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds. The owners are wonderful. We arrived after the office was closed but found our unit was made ready with heater already warming the room. We also experienced car trouble which delayed our departure from Fairlie and the owner could not have been more supportive of our predicament - extending our check-out time as much as we needed.
It is situated in Fairlie which was not too far away from Geraldine & nice drive to Mt Cook. We felt we had gone back in time when we entered the house! Even had vinyl records which were great to play & remember past decades of great music. It is a short walk to the bakery in the main street…….great coffee & pies!
We were very comfortable & enjoyed our stay!
