Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo.
Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.

The location worked out for our travel arrangements.
The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. A restaurant/hotel was located 6 mins up the road and a little general store across road with a bit of history and garden furniture to see.

who could not do enough for us. The only thing that was a pity was the motel is right on a bend and the traffic is quite noisy as it comes around motel - but you cannot do anything about that. We still managed to have a good nights sleep.

I was told they cannot take my (long confirmed) booking for booking.com did not notify them the change. So we, two adults, two children and two dogs, had to drive all the way at night back to Christchurch. We are lucky it's our (original second) last day of our school holiday trip.
I think this solution, if we can call this as a solution, is very very unprofessional in operating of accommodation.
As comparison, our host in Queenstown did not receive an explicit notification from booking.com either for my change. But they explained to us and provide a real solution by upgrading our room actually.

Easy to collect keys with lockbox.
Host was very responsive. The house is very well maintained, clean and all heaters were working. There's beautiful view outside the house and the house is big. Kitchen was well equipped!
One thing to note is that there is no connection at Burkes Pass. We didn't face any issues as we downloaded offline maps. Location was easy to find.
Very friendly and warm owners. We were even allowed to feed the sheep.
The room we had was actually very clean, but the fact that it was so cluttered made it seem a bit untidy. But only from our subjective point of view. Others might like it. The bed was also very comfortable.
We would recommend to try the Silverstream Hotel for dinner and the Greedy Cow for brekky.
The house was beautiful, peaceful and very warm. Great cooking facilities and the most comfortable beds. Staying in Burkes Pass was such a good option. We went for a walk and had dinner in Tekapo, and then saw a stunning sunset as we drove over the high country (about 20minutes) to Burkes Pass.
Small but cozy motel in burkes pass. only a 15 min drive into lake tekapo. great motel at an affordable rate. the bathroom was recently renovated and very clean. nice heated in room with essential appliances (eg microwave). great stay for the price!
A really lovely family run hotel that has ever thing you would need for the price , great location just up from lake tekapo , definitely worth a stay if you are in the area ❤️😊
