Morelia is a stunning city. The people are friendly and kind. Speaking Spanish is important as most locals do not speak English.
Morelia is the home to the arts of all kinds. I have been to the symphony, theater, choir performances, all sorts of dancing, lectures, artisan shows, and more. This is NOT a city for a whitewashed experience. If you love the true culture of Mexico, this is the city for you.
In Morelia you will find a plethora of universities, beautiful parks, a large zoo, a planetarium, large malls for shopping, hiking and biking places and artists everywhere. The entire region is jammed with some of the finest artists in the country.

Try to plan to be there on Saturday evening at 9pm to see the wonderful fireworks at the cathedral. Be there early. They only last 5 minutes but they're great.

A historical cultural center with many museums, pink stone Baroque architecture, many outdoor cafes, plazas, good food everywhere. A lively, rather sophisticated city indicative of its many colleges and universities. Spanish Catholic influences with a strong undertone of deep indigenous traditions. Outlying areas with ancient archeological sites and interesting artisan towns. Third largest lake in Mexico.

We enjoyed the main street, the park, the street performers, the aqueduct, the magnificent architectural tours available. We also loved to listen and dance to our favorite band, Musico Vocal Horus, which plays five nights a week at Onix restaurant.

This was not our first visit to Morelia, but it was our first visit since Covid. It is a gracious city with beautiful architecture. Coincidentally it was a holiday weekend, so the historical center was abuzz with activity. This was our first stop on our way to other destinations, but it is certainly not out last visit to Morelia or Michoacan.

Morelia was one of the most interesting and lovely cities I’ve visited in Mexico. We loved the zoo, spent 5 hours there, and were blown away by the gardens and the giraffe encounter. We walked many miles through the historic center, enjoyed restaurants, street performers, the scenery, the double-decker bus tour, and touring and photographing the interiors and exteriors of the many historic churches and cathedrals. We found people friendly to us as Americans, and we felt safe and welcome. Thank you, Morelia, for sharing your beauty, warmth, and culture with a couple of happy Americans!

It is impossible to sum up all the positives. I shall try some: the location, the outstanding restaurant Lu, the service, elevator floor accessibility, the understated elegance, the cleanliness, the fair price, the fine mattress, the quiet room, the comfort and especially the professionalism, courtesy, assistance and unforgettable friendliness of the entire staff. I’ve travelled the world. Hotel Casino is a winner. If ever in Morelia, by all means stay here!
A gorgeous boutique hotel in the middle of town. The place itself and the rooms were gorgeous. Lots of privacy and comfort. We felt really spoiled with every detail: the soap bar, the morning coffee, the massages we got and the friendliness of the staff. It is an excellent place to fully relax but also to explore the beauties of Morelia.
Good location, walking distance to everything you want to see or do in central Morelia. The mercado, the cathedral and central square, lots of restaurants nearby. Nice and quiet, comfortable bed. Kitchen available and opportunity to meet other guests.
Everything was fine, but the pictures didn't tell the story of how small the rooms were. However, the staff was great and the location superb. Seemed expensive to a nice, but modest hotel.
