A very nice place at a surprisingly affordable price. Good contact with the owner who was helpful and understanding. The area is also a plus - it is not a tourist town, so you can feel like a real Maltese :)
Located in the heart of St. Julians, Alexandra Hotel offers air-conditioned rooms with a balcony. It features a rooftop swimming pool and a terrace with views of the Mediterranean Sea.

The town is quieter and more rural than the cities on the north side of the island yet easily accessable to the major centres, the south and east coasts and the country side. You more likely to meet locals rather than touists here. Just be aware that if you rely on the busses, you may be waiting for a while. We used Bolt more often here than other parts of the islands.

We chose to stay in an inland town away from the tourist hotspots. The island is small enough to reach parts of the coast in 40 mins-60 mins by bus or 30 mins by car. The frequent bus services are cheap and supported by an excellent app. The town itself has limited restaurants- good for cheaper meals and take aways- but none for higher quality food. So we ate out in Valetta, Birgui and Medina and enjoyed the variety. The use of the full kitchen was very useful as a supplement.

Zebbug is a smaller town with character.
Zebbug is a smaller town with character. There are many cafes and restaurants to meet all tastes. The locals are incredibly friendly and helpful. On quite a few days there is a market in the square. There is a very good bus service which allows you to stay in a less built up area of Malta, but with the ability to be able to travel around easily. We purchased a Tallinja 7 day pass for 21 euros each and we used it several times per day so the value was incredible.
We tried several restaurants from budget, to ££ and £££ and ate differently most nights; pizza, fresh fish, pasta - the food was incredible but the restaurant I would highlight is Tax-Xiha Bistro And Pizzeria. The food here is absolutely delicious with an incredible range to suit all tastes and they cater for gluten free!
I couldn't find anything that I didn't like about Zebugg. I guess it's a matter of opinion, but if you prefer somewhere a little out of the way, a quiet but quaint place then I highly recommend staying here rather than the incessant buzz of the main towns.

The location is fabulous as it’s a good home base if you want to go out for day trips. We stayed in Żebbug for 2 nights and drove out to Gozo, Dingli, Rabat, Mdina and Blue Grotto during our stay. We then came back to Żebbug in the evenings and had some great restaurants to choose from for dinner. Our favorite restaurant was Tax-Xiha. It’s a very lively area and it’s nice to see some more local parts of Malta.
Parking can be quite tricky in Żebbug during mass times and market times. That being said, I’d strongly recommend having a car as it’s very easy to drive from Żebbug to other parts of the island, especially areas that are more difficult to reach with public transport.

Good central location for a visit to Malta if you want an alternative to the bustle and noise of Valletta. Very much a town where people live their lives rather than a 'tourist trap'.
Good access to local buses.
Plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town. We enjoyed a wonderful at Mennula, which has a lovely roof terrace and offered a blend of Sicilian and Maltese food and some great wine.
Very convenient for the main Malta airport which can mean a bit of aircraft noise, which we didn't find a problem.
The bell on the main Church in the centre chimes the quarter hour all day and all night!
