Stayed for 4 nights, this city and its surrounding area has a lot to offer. There are few foreign tourists visiting the city, if you are planning on taking the ferry the ferry to Mingun be prepared to charter the entire boat. We paid 100 000 kyats for the ride there and back. Great city lots of history and temples to visit. Highly recommend the U Bein if you have clear sunset. Get the Grab app the city big you will need a taxi to get around.

Crouded city but lovely people around you everywhere !

Crouded city but lovely people around you everywhere ! It's worth to visit especially for those who travel for good cuisines as well as reasonable prices hotels! Just one thing, transportation will not be as cheap as you experienced in Yangon! There are very few plaforms for those who would like to walk so it's a little bit at risk to walk!(It's worth to walk along the Royal Palace in the morning as well as in the evenings !)

Riding a moped was bloody hairy!

Riding a moped was bloody hairy! Intersections are insane..... No joke it's a "free for all" some great sights to be had and enjoyed. Downside: The Non existent nightlife kills the vibe here... There is none! Everything is closing by 9pm! What tha????

Not an attractive city and our least favourite place in Myanmar. However for the short time we were there we enjoyed the places we visited. The climb up Mandalay hill and the visit to the long team bridge at sunset were good

    Something must try:

Something must try: - View sunset on Mandalay hill and Ubein Bridge. - Get in Mandalay palace - Visit Mingun, many nice pic at there. - Inwa is ok, don't like horse cart seller, and sales cling. (horse cart seller said that 15k/2people, then they discount 26k Kyats for 2 horse cart, but after trip, the rider said must pay more for them)

Taxi to the top of Mandalay Hill and walk down the main stairway, at the bottom of the steps many of the main pagodas and ancient sights are within easy walking distance. With a reasonably early start these can be seen and still leave you time to go see the markets, we took a tuk-tuk to the Jad market and walked all the way back to the Palace area via the central market, wonderfully interesting and you get a real feeling for the city by working through all the commercial areas. On the second day we took a tour out to Amarapura, Sagaing, Mingun, Ava or Innwa. It was a great and good value trip as the ancient capitals lay outside Mandalay.

Very nice hostel, clean and well organized. Breakfasts were modest but good. Water and coffee available. I stayed in a private room and in a dorm and both rooms were good. The hostel staff are wonderful and helpful young people. They helped me buy a ticket to the next city, for which I am very grateful. Thank you

The place wasnt bad but THEY CHARGED ME MORE! When I checked in, they used a different exchange rate than the one they used to set their prices on booking.com and ended up charging me 35% more and I informed about this and they didnt want to reimburse the difference
