We stayed here for 5 nights and had the most comfortable stay. It is located at a great spot making it very easy to get to most of the cafes and the beach. The best part about the stay is all the staff here always make sure you are taken care of and have everything that you need to enjoy your stay. Mishika and Chathu were amazing and made our stay so comfortable. Also we’ve had our best Italian meal here, highly recommend you to come and dine here!

In my opinion, on south of Sri Lanka, Weligama is the best place. Beach is the nicest and there are few great restaurants ( like Nomad) and beach bar Kai which is the best place with a pool, beach acces and great food. From Weligama you can rent a scooter and travel to other south cities and beaches.

Kurumba Bay always fun to hang out at with options for food and dessert.
You can always hop into a tuk to visit neighbouring beaches too.
Salt in Mirissa was a great place to spend the day whether it be in the sun or shade, they had both options. They served good food and cocktails.

Weligama is cool for surfing.
Weligama is cool for surfing. It has lot of places for tourists and foreigners like Hangtime Hostel, or like NoMad cafe or even Ice Weligama to chill and have some ice bath yoga classes or sauna. In general it has a lot of things to do with the main being surfing. It's good for beginners in surfing, though when the waves are ideal for surfing the line up is crowded and not enjoyable. When the waves are more strong then it's less people and you'll enjoy it more! You'll have good time visiting Weligama. Warm weather, waves and chill vibe. Don't think about it.

Very large but there's not great lighting on the road so not brilliant for tourists walking at night - a lot have cars or scooters.
A lot of people use the surfing areas on the beach which are very accessible.
There's a good few hidden beaches which has gorgeous water and sand too.

We were working/surfing and this location is then perfect as there is easy access to the waves when you have a lunchbreak or so. No wasting of time and need not ride a tuctuc every time you want to go surfing.

This was our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka and we would love to come back and stay again. The food was incredible - and we tried a range of things from the resturant including curries, hoppers, sushi, western food and drinks - it was all incredible. The room was incredibly spacious and clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was right off Weligama beach. Our most favourite thing about Latheena - ROKI! The pet dog - he was so beautiful and our boys looked forward to playing with him each day.
Weligama Oriental Villa was a wonderful experience. The villa itself is beautifully designed with spacious, clean rooms, and just a short walk from the beach — ideal for relaxation. The staff were incredibly kind and understanding, especially when I had to leave early due to a family emergency. Their warmth and care made a challenging time much easier. Highly recommend this villa for anyone seeking comfort and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality.
Rise was a great guest house, it was clean and spacious, the staff and manager were super helpful with everything we needed. The location is perfect for the beach and places to eat. The Italian restaurant was delicious and the recommendations that Kate sent were perfect to help us see the best spots in Weligama and the surrounding areas. Rise was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka and we would recommend it to everyone!
Shan is the best hotel owner in Sri Lanka. He treated me not like a client but like a brother. Very friendly and super helpful! I recommend Shan Star to everyone who wants to enjoy beautiful Weligama with a very nice room and incredibly friendly staff. The best hotel we stayed in in Sri Lanka! 5 wonderful nights. We were welcomed by an amazing woman named Miriam with her champion staff who immediately made sure we felt at home and helped with everything we asked for. Large, clean, pampering rooms with hot water. Excellent food ,Rich and tasty breakfasts , a pool in front of the sea and a dreamy view. Thank you for a most enjoyable vacation!!!
