Prakash and other staff members were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They took care of us very well. What is even more impressive was the food made by Chef Prakash. We are originally from Sri Lanka, and we have had plenty of Sri Lankan food, including home cooked food. But the Rice and curries dinner we had here was unique and the best we ever had. We had a great mountain view from the room and balcony, and were able to enjoy the Sunrise directly from the room.

Stayed there for one night on 28. 06. 2024. We had a wonderful time at this beautiful place.
Hosts were amazing: experienced the true srilankan hospitality. We felt more like we were visiting friends. It was very kind of them to let us leave our car there overnight until we return from our hike the next day. They even volunteered to pack our breakfast to take with us even though we left very early in the morning. And then the next day upon our arrival there was hot tea and Sri Lankan pancakes to welcome us back. What a sweet surprise!
The location was convenient too. It was just a 5 minutes walk from the railway station.
The cozy bedroom had an attached bathroom which was nice and clean. We loved the cute, beautiful garden with outdoor seating.
This will definitely be the place we will be staying at if we will visit Ohiya again.

We had an excellent stay at Hill Safari. Hosts Eomal and his wife and staff Nuwan are very kind, friendly, and helpful. The location is an excellent place for Horton Plains and many other hiking trails. Also, the views around the property are excellent - tea plantations, farms, mountains, and long distance views as well. Eomal, who has lived there over 40 years, is very knowledgeable about the area and all the hiking opportunities. Home cooked dinner and lunch were very tasty. He arranged our travel logistics to the Horton Plains and to the Train station.

First of all, I want to say about the staff. Their humanity was at its best. Very friendly. I love that. We were treated better than we thought. The room also has a very clean bathroom with comfortable beds. The environment is very quiet. It's a very beautiful small village surrounded by a forest. The food is very tasty and refreshing . Hope to go there again . Much love that place .

Almost everything. Location was close to Horton Plains and the owners arranged a tuk tuk ride for a nominal fee. Lovely surrounding. Food was tasty and ample given. Really worth it. Owners were friendly and made the guests feel at home.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go.
Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go. Horton Plains are absolutely gorgeous, but even the unusual forests around Ohiya, birds, other animals and all the plants (especially flowers and coniferous species) are worth to see. We loved the mysterious weather, hot mornings, misty afternoons or evenings, and beautiful nights with distant thunderstorms. This place is fabulous and we wish to come back again.
Best restaurant for us was staying at Muthu Nisindi in Forest Cyniciam Holiday Bungalow. And her husband Mahinda took care of us with his tuk-tuk, being always on time, always prepared to stop to show us an an animal or answer question or wish.
We definitely recommend animal watching around the village, walks in forest, eating all the food you can and going to Horton Plains at least for two days to hike through all the paths available, we managed to do just 2 hikes and will come back once to see the rest.
The Hill Safari is beautifully situated on a hill. The rooms are very nice with a huge panoramic window, very comfortable beds and warm blankets. There is also a mosquito net. I felt comfortable all around. All the people there contribute to a wonderful and unforgettable stay. The food is very tasty and excellent. I went on several walks in the surrounding area. It is all so peaceful and beautiful, I will definitely be back. Thank you for everything.
A fabulous view in this so quiet and peaceful little village . The staff here are the stars and the Prakash’s cooking produced some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka . We stayed three nights to walk a couple of days on the Pekoe Trail .
I can’t emphasise enough how the cream here go out of their way to help and assist . We hope to return one day as we skipped Horton Ppalin but the walk down the Devil’s staircase was spectacular .
The family is really outstanding friendly and caring. I felt like bering at my grandmother's place. So much good food.
I had also some good talks with other travelers because they have around 4 or 5 rooms to rent.
I recommend it.
The people who run this place are very friendly, and the old lady cooks very nice curry, and very cheaply too. If you are a group, having the bungalow with three bedrooms and a small living room to yourself is very nice.
