Extremely beautiful. No visa for Indians if stay is within 14 days. November is an ideal month to see autumn & start of winter. Temperature was between 10-15° C. Overall very friendly people.
Ideal number of days - 6 to 7 if you want to comfortably visit all of Almaty region with 2 night stay in Saty for complete lake experience.
I spent less than 120 usd overall.
Public transport is extremely convenient. Go for 2gis app for navigation. If not Yandex Go is always helpful.
Get Google translator handy & offline language availability (Russian). You need to translate everything especially what you eat as meat is 1st priority here.

Almaty was a beautiful city With lots of stuff to do for tourists. Great places to walk around. Local travel is efficient and affordable with the Yandex go app. Most of the places of interest are within a couple of hours of a comfortable drive. It’s a lively city, but not too noisy. People are helpful and polite, but language is a barrier. Google Translate makes it easier to communicate. Vegetarian options are limited but we found some excellent Indian restaurants for veg food. Overall loved our short stay in Almaty, will be back soon …

Almaty isn´t love at first sight and one has to be a bit accustomed to some local and common peculiarities of post-Soviet countries.
There are plenty things to do and visit. It is necessary to understand that Almaty is a really big city. What seems to be around the corner on the map, could be a matter of hundreds of meters (at least) in reality.
If I was to select 1 highlight of the city, it is certainly the food. The selection of restaurants of various cousines with excellent food and service is just not possible to count and measure. We were never disappointed with the quality of food during the whole 10 year history of our trips to Kazakhstan, usually quite the contrary. Prices are usually reasonable (but not dirt cheap).
Quality of service in hotels varies a lot - even from shift to shift or from employee to employee. For a quarantee of a good service, 5* hotels should be considered. Good hotels are not cheap at all.
Trasportation around the city is easiest (and cheap) on a taxi - with Yandex Go or similar app. Payment cards acceptance in taxis is not very common, cash (tenge) is necessary. I must note that the traffic is really terrible during (and not limited to) the rush hours, resulting in bad air pollution (same in Astana).
Navigation in the city can be done using Google Maps, but there is great local alternative with much more detailed information about the POIs - 2GIS. That one is much more use outside big towns comparing to Google Maps.

My recent trip to Almaty was an unforgettable experience!
My recent trip to Almaty was an unforgettable experience! This vibrant city seamlessly blends urban life with stunning natural beauty. From the moment we arrived, the energy of Almaty captivated us. The bustling streets were filled with charming cafes, shops, and friendly locals, making it easy to immerse ourselves in the culture.
One of the highlights of our visit was exploring the breathtaking scenery. We took a cable car up to Kok Tobe, where panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains left us in awe. The lush landscapes of Shymbulak Mountain were equally mesmerizing, providing a perfect backdrop for hiking and outdoor activities.
Issyk Lake was another must-see destination, with its crystal-clear waters nestled among the mountains. We enjoyed a peaceful day there, taking in the serene atmosphere and stunning views. Kolsai Lakes and Charyn Canyon showcased Kazakhstan's natural wonders in spectacular fashion. The vibrant blue of Kolsai Lakes against the rugged terrain was simply picture-perfect, while the dramatic landscapes of Charyn Canyon felt otherworldly.
Additionally, we spent time visiting various parks around the city. Each one offered a unique ambiance, from tranquil gardens to lively recreation areas filled with families and laughter.
Overall, Almaty is a fantastic destination that offers a rich mix of vibrant city life and awe-inspiring natural beauty. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable travel experience!

Almaty is a beautiful city, very tourist friendly and easy to get along with translator apps. Inspite of all the scam stories we read about in various blogs, we had an excellent experience and did not encounter any kind of untoward incidents. Almaty is aptly named the Switzerland of Central Asia. The Airport could add on more of Quick Service restaurants with added menu options.

If you know Russian, it is very easy to go places, otherwise it is very difficult as all boards are in Kazakh/Russian and very few people speak English. It is always important to plan your trips for the correct season - summer if you want to enjoy the places. Otherwise, it is always dark and cloudy on daytime and no good lighting in the night. Looks like people in Almaty allergic to light!!!

Location is really nice and the place has a happy vibe with people from all over the world. Hotel Kazakhstan is 5 minutes away on foot. The hostel actually faces a river although the river is more of a canal. The area is really good with shopping stores, grocery stores, bars and restaurants. I took a bus to the bazaar and it took 5 minutes on the bus.
The best part of this hotel is the outstanding location in the heart of Almaty, the staff are friendly, the breakfast is good, the only thong is that the hotel is a bit old and worn out, if they inprove the facilities a bit it will become an amazing place to stay at a fair price, I dont consider myself a picky person though
I come with my families for traveling in Kazakhstan, and this hotel is not a good hotel. Indian don't stay here. Nothing is good here. Hotel person's behaviour is very bad. Facilities are very poor. As we booked this hotel from booking.com, so I requested to every Indian not to stay here. Even don't go with booking.com
The staff, room, location - all was great!
The best hotel in Almaty.
I had a room at the 5th floor with the park view.
There is a bit noise from the A/C at the roof, but I was ok this that.Overall the room is very comfortable.
The spa is ok, but the sauna is too small and located in changing room.
