This is my second visit to Siem Reap. I love the ancient temples, but most of all I love the laid back atmosphere and the wonderful Khmer people. Pub street is fun but be sure to visit some of the restaurants on the sidestreets. They are much cheaper and the food is exceptional.

The Angkor Wat temples were incredible.
The Angkor Wat temples were incredible. We did the three day pass but did two days of visits due to our timeline and felt we could have spent much more time exploring the city and going to different museums and such. We went to the Apopo centre and learned how rats (and dogs) are working to eliminate the landmine problem in Cambodia that continues to this day. We had a fantastic time walking around and attending markets such as the Free Trade market and the Made in Cambodia markets. We loved Siem Reap and would definitely come back to explore the things we missed. The sunrise at Angkor Wat brought huge crowds so arrive early if you want a seat at the lake or you’ll be staring into 100 peoples cell phones instead of the sunrise! I’d say arrive at 5:30am latest.

Of course, the ruins are the main attraction and one is left in awe when one considers the restoration to date and the ongoing restoration. Good reading ahead of time will help appreciate the ruins and fun to engage the tour guide with more in-depth discussion!
Apart from ruins, recommend to see the Phare - a circus with incredible talents!
Tuk tuk and cars are our preferred mode of transport!

Journey Cambodia gives a great tour of the temples.
Journey Cambodia gives a great tour of the temples. Loved the vibrancy of the evening markets and nightlife. Only complaint is the airport is so far from the city (45 minutes). Wish I had more time to spend than the two days I allotted. Less time in Bangkok, more time in Siem Reap.

So much to see! Get out and about.
So much to see! Get out and about. The city is vibrant and you can pick up some bargains. Don't shop at the market outside the Bayon Temple complex - they hugely overcharge! The temples are amazing and fascinating. We were happy we didn't take a guided tour because we could spend time looking at particular carvings that caught our imagination and do things at our own pace. The sunrise tour of Angkor Wat was underwhelming. We waited 2 hours and wasn't sure whether we had seen it or not! There are also big crowds. I heard the sunset tour is better. Apsara Dance show with dinner is a great experience. Phare circus is amazing (as long as you take it for what it is and don't expect cirque-de-soleil). Visit the Elephant sanctuary and throw yourself into it - it's great fun and worth the money. If you can find bug spray that deters sand flies and ants invest in it! I ended up with more bites than clear skin on my feet, ankles and thighs!

we stayed for four days in Siem reap.
we stayed for four days in Siem reap. The temples Angkor Wat and all the others are amazing. It is an experience of a lifetime. what the people back in the 12th century could accomplish in art and sculpture and at this scale is simply unbelievable.
I would highly recommend a visit to Cambodia to Siem Reap. The hotels are luxurious and getting around is easy. Get a guide and marvel at human creativity at its finest.

This is a very relaxing place! The pool is right by the rooms and the bar at the edge of the pool. The staff are all excellent - nothing is a trouble. Reception can organise anything you want to do. The bed is comfortable and the airconditioner can be switched to quiet mode, which really helped with sleeping. Do use the hotel tuk tuk drivers, they are reliable and the cheapest you'll find in Siem Reap. They really appreciate your business.
The patio featured an outside, full sized, functioning bath tub - my little luxury!
Staying at this hotel was the best decision for our trip to Siem Reap. The central location made it easy to get around, and the staff's friendliness added a personal touch to our experience. We appreciated how quickly the team responded to any requests. The pool was massive and well-maintained, and the spa was a great way to unwind after sightseeing. Our room was impeccable, with a cozy bed. Dining here was a treat. The food was fresh, tasty, and full of variety. We will definitely stay here again!
The hotel in Siem Reap city boasts the best location, making it convenient for exploring the area's attractions. The massages offered are top-notch, providing a relaxing experience after a day of sightseeing. Additionally, the tours organized by the hotel are truly amazing, offering guests a comprehensive and memorable experience. Overall, this hotel is a great choice for those seeking convenience, relaxation, and adventure during their stay in Siem Reap city.
This was a lovely place to stay. So quiet and tranquil. The owner is a lovely Australian ex service man and is doing some amazing work for the Cambodian children. Was so lovely to stay somewhere so meaningful. The staff were great and catered to every need and made us feel so welcome. The hotel is hidden away and once there you wouldn’t even know you’re in the heart of Siem Reap. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
The Anansaya la maison is an outstanding boutique hotel with excellent services.
I can fully recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury escape in Siem Reap.
