We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Sapphire in Mombasa. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, providing various recommendations to make our stay unforgettable. Thanks to Laureen we had a little private tour with a driver who navigated smaller streets and showed us around. Our room was very quiet and clean. Despite the live music in the hotel during the evening, everything quieted down by 10 PM, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast, included in the price, was comprehensive and catered well to European tastes with fresh fruits, yogurt, and Kenyan dishes. Special thanks to Laureen and Salome for their friendliness and assistance with our specific requests. Overall, a delightful experience.

Awesome hotel in dowtown Mombasa. Personal in this hotel was amazing. Such a great bunch we meet. Brenda at front desk was awesome, she helps us with daypass at beach, with unfriendly bolt courier and print our boarding passes and always smiling.
Also Angela in restaurant was so kind and profesional and we loved her.

Mombasa city itself was a typical 3rd world city - noisy, crowded, with no street appeal. I only passed through so didn't explore.
However, all along the coast were the resorts - varying from OK to extravagant.
The beach would rival the Maldives if it weren't for the thick heaps of seaweed - only cleaned near the higher end resorts.
Well worth the money are the safaris - even the half days trips.
Although everywhere is iron bars and heavy gates, there was no actual sense of danger and people were very friendly.
Weather was consistent - hot and sunny.
Food varied from inexpensive bland to very expensive international fare.
Unfortunately where I stayed (Shanzu) there were no street venders, so I didn't have a chance to try them.

Mombasa - totally wasted time. Unsafe and nothing to see.
Mombasa - totally wasted time. Unsafe and nothing to see. A family from Europe would NEVER stroll around without guards in the city center. The whole city is totally worn out, garbage everywhere and very depressing.

The staff make this hotel excellent. They are superb and so friendly. Special mention to Liz who was so helpful but the whole team were as well - I just didn’t get all of their names. All of the guys working there were amazing. The guys working in the attached restaurant were also very friendly.
The room is a good size and the hotel is well located. It is possible to walk to the old town but take a tuk tuk which are cheap as the Mombasa heat is crazy. Bathroom good as well and the hotel has air con - super important in Mombasa.
I booked the hotel for my 5 year niece as a birthday present. She and her parents enjoyed their stay at the hotel. She loves swimming! She enjoyed both the hotel pool and the beach. Breakfast was excellent. The staff took great care of her, especially on the day of her birthday. The room was sufficient for the 3 of them, very clean. I will definitely recommend this hotel.
Great value for money in a central location of Mombasa Old Town, perfect for exploring the city after few days at the beach. We stayed in a private room and had a really nice balcony with an amazing view. Room was small but big enough for a short stay. Bathrooms are all shared but always were spotless clean.
Place is in a secure and serene location with close proximity (walking distance) to Neptune beach
Looks exactly like in pics. Reliable Wi-fi , twin size bed comfortable for 2, generally relatively clean with large sliding windows and fans important for Mombasa weather.
We had wonderful days. My family enjoyed the accommodations. The hotel is close to the beach and shopping center. I really enjoyed the accommodations and will book again during my next visit to Mombasa.
