A really wonderful hotel in Matsushima - great for those traveling with a rental car.
The hotel is clean and comfortable with all the essentials you may need. The traditional Japanese style rooms are large and the local area is very peaceful.
The indoor hot tub is very relaxing, and nicely matches the interior design of the hotel.
The staff are the highlight - they are all really polite and friendly. There are also two friendly dogs!
This hotel employs young staff with varying abilities - all of whom were very attentive.
This is a hotel worth supporting, and after staying here I feel like part of the family!

Scenic little town with lots to view. We walked the town and explored all the tourist sights. Took a short boat ride around the bay for 1000¥ ,if you want to sit upstairs on boat you’ll need to pay another 600¥. Main Shrine currently under renovation

It's amazing.
It's amazing. There's such an incredible amount to do and see. We explored for 5 hours two days in a row in the freezing cold and would do it again in a heartbeat it was so nice. So many restaurants, hotels, gift shops, places of outstanding beauty, museums... amazing.

It is really a beautiful view, with all those small islands covered with pine trees! The region is very prepared for the tourists, including bridge to one of the islands for people that like to walk around the trees!
The Zuiganji temple is one of the most beautiful I've seen!

Very beautiful coastal town!
Very beautiful coastal town!
Having two different train stations on each side of the town, makes the getting to/from very flexible and easy.
Definitely a must see when visiting Sendai or the Tohoku/Myagi Area.

Matsushima is a tiny place and does not have a lot to offer - also like any other traditional Japanese town it closes down at 6 PM - literally. Most restaurants and shops are closed, the streets atr dark. Not much to do. It is a great place for a short stopover.
The room was large and clean, Japanese style, with mats, a low table and a sleeping area on the floor. The view from the window was simply breathtaking. Breakfast was quite tasty and varied. The staff tried to be helpful and polite. It was especially nice to receive detailed instructions regarding the hotel rules in English (which, for some unknown reason, many hotels in Japan ignore). The overall impression of this Japanese style hotel is quite good.
Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse can easily be reached from Matsushimakaigan Station. It is close to all the beautiful spots of Matsushima and still very cozy and quiet. The house is spacious, the beds very comfortable. The host is extremely kind and welcoming and speaks fluently English. He gave us very helpful advice and made us feel at home. Thank you very much for this unforgettable stay at lovely Matsushima.
This was a modern Japanese style hotel, with a wonderful onsen and fantastic views. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They even gave us a half bottle of sparkling wine for my birthday, which was much appreciated!
We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend.
Breakfast and dinner were exceptional. Our room was large and the views across Matsushima Bay breathtaking. Loved the onsen experience. Staff was very helpful.
