For the price that we paid, we were getting excellent value. The room had everything that we needed. The breakfast was rather extensive, Japanese styled. Parking was easy.

The facility was centrally located. The owners and staff were very accommodating. We were able to communicate adequately even though they didn't speak English and we didn't speak Japanese. The onsens were super clean and the water was toasty. We were impressed with our experience and would not hesitate to stay at the Takaraya again if we ever return to Kotohira.

Beautiful haven of tranquility. The design and craftsmanship in the rooms was exquisite. The outdoor onsen bath, though small, was wonderful. The ryokan is a quick walk to the historic Kabuki theater if you take the path behind the property. The theater is definitely worth a visit. We wish we had stayed a second night.

I ejoyed my stay in the Kabuki theatre, where a well-knolweged guide gave a great commentary. The trip to Konpira San was interesting. You will enojoy the walk to the main builiding, the grand view of Kotohira, the souvenir stores, and the museum with old Japanese paintings and art works.

Kotohira shrine was excellent.
Kotohira shrine was excellent. You have to climb literally 1000 steps to get to the top, but it's a cultural experience. There is also the oldest surviving Kabuki theater in Japan located nearby. And there's a park called Manno that has a winter-time illumination. We didn't get to see the illuminatio, but I've only heard great things. Maybe next year.
The location was a short walk from the JR station and the Kotohira shrine. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and spoke English really well. He had lots of suggestions for places to go and things to see.
I like the onsen and massage the laundry , and also it is convenient to have the supermarket opposite to the hotel and lawson convenient store next to the hotel and the bus stop for airport bus to Takamatsu
Staff are professional and nice, they trying their best to communicate with us by English. The hotel is amazing, wonderful environment and excellent dining! Must come again for relaxation.
The room was big and the location was convenient. The onsen is opened until 0000 so can have a good bath even come back to the hotel late. The hotel also include breakfast which was ok.
