Nice room. Bit small. Bathroom very small. Hotel bit out of the city center. Would recommend to take a taxi if you arrive by train with a lot of luggage. Big supermarket just outside.
Only a 5-minute walk from JR Kotohira Train Station and located right along the Kanekura River, Kotohira Riverside Hotel offers simple Western accommodations.

Great location and a good-sized room. Staff speak little English. Very clean but if you want your room cleaned you have to leave the room key with reception. Breakfast was OK

Perfect location less than a minute from the stairs to the shrine. Only a 10 minute walk to the train. Loads of shops line the stairs. The hotel itself was exceptional: staff, facilities, onsen, restaurant, room - all were absolutely top notch. One of our best stays in Japan!

Might be a bit old but it was a really nice experience to be able to stay in such a traditional ryokan. The interior was also very well kept and tidy. The hosts were really welcoming and helpful even though we arrived really late.
Only a 3-minute walk away from JR Kotohira Station, Takaraya is simple accommodation featuring a hot spring bath. It is a 5-minute walk from the famous Kotohira-gu Shrine, or Kompira-san, area.
At Yumoto Konpira Onsen Hananoyu Kobaitei, guests can refresh in the indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths or sit out by the foot bath, which comes with views of the traditional garden.

The house is a classic style Japanese house with all modern comfort. It is great! Large kitchen. Large bathroom. Large dining room with cosy dining corner and table. 2toilets, 4 huge bedrooms, with tatami mats and beds. . They can adapt the bedrooms to the number of guests.
Laundry machine available and kitchen and bathroom full with bottles and products that you can use. Fully equipped kitchen. We loved the place. All very comfortable, stylish and cosy. Located along a quiet road in the rural countryside between farmlands.
We regretted that we only stayed there 1 night. We would have loved to relax a day at this property and done some nice strolls around the house. All was also very clean.

Kotohira shrine was excellent.
Kotohira shrine was excellent. You have to climb literally 1000 steps to get to the top, but it's a cultural experience. There is also the oldest surviving Kabuki theater in Japan located nearby. And there's a park called Manno that has a winter-time illumination. We didn't get to see the illuminatio, but I've only heard great things. Maybe next year.
It is absolutely beautiful, we stayed in a western style room and it's absolutely huge! It also had an amazing view of the mountain behind.
We didn't bother using the onsen as we have tattoos but we walked around the hotel and it's so beautiful with many art pieces and sculptures. The breakfast buffet was also very delicious and the dining hall was beautiful.
The room was wonderful, large and well decorated. The hotel is really beautiful, you can borrow a yukata for the length of your stay, which was really great! The dinner was delicious, a several course meal with different traditional Japanese dishes. The onsen is open 24h, very convenient, very clean, with several baths available.
Perfect location less than a minute from the stairs to the shrine. Only a 10 minute walk to the train. Loads of shops line the stairs. The hotel itself was exceptional: staff, facilities, onsen, restaurant, room - all were absolutely top notch. One of our best stays in Japan!
The location was a short walk from the JR station and the Kotohira shrine. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and spoke English really well. He had lots of suggestions for places to go and things to see.
