Hotel Continental, hotel in Taormina

Hotel Continental is located in the heart of Taormina, a 2-minute walk from the Cathedral and the main pedestrian street Corso Umberto.

Excellent location - very close to the walking street and to Porta Modica. Clean room, comfy bed and very supportive staff. Excellent view towards the city, the sea and Etna. The breakfast costs additional 10 euro per person, and I strongly recommend to get it, as abundant and wonderful. Additional bonus if you have good weather and get your breakfast at the roof-top terrace.

Hotel Corallo, hotel in Taormina

Located at Taormina Mare, the hotel offers an enchanting view over the Bay of Naxos and Cape Taormina; a magnificent panorama that can be admired from each of the guestrooms and from the restaurant.

One minute walk to a very nice beach with rock for diving. The staff was very helpful and kind. The walk to town is a bit of hike but has amazing views. I would definitely stay here again.

Taormina Panoramic Hotel, hotel in Taormina

65 ft from the beach on Isola Bella Bay, Taormina Panoramic Hotel has access to Taormina by cable car. All rooms and the outdoor swimming pool have Mediterranean Sea views.

The view, the facilities the staff were perfect. The breakfast was the best we sampled in Italy and it had a wonderful fully stocked bar. The rooms overlook the sea and beaches and just a short walk to the cable car to take you to the old town of Taormina. We were disappointed that we only booked one night. We will certainly be back and will stay for a minimum of four nights as there is so much to see and do in this amazing town.

FAQs about hotels in Taormina

The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown

As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza drenched with vibrant pink blossoms, you might have to pinch yourself. The amazing location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.

But wait, there's more. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the largely intact Greek Theater has amazing views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Great summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars feature live music.

Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, with a clock tower and church overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.

A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the center of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the southwest, there's a long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and to the north is the bay by Mazzaró.

As you'd expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there's no shortage of places to stay in Taormina on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, centrally located apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Ancient Greek theatre is stunning, as are the views from the hill town of Castelmalo (quick bus trip up and could walk back down to Taormina). The ambiance at Piazza IX Aprile (public square) at sunset and into the evening hours was just magical (at least in January when fewer people were in town), with people relaxing, admiring the views and with children playing, surrounded by one of the most charming public spaces. The Villa Comunale public garden was also very worthwhile, also with stunning unobstructed views of Etna.

We visited Taormina in the beginning of November 2024 but the town was still extremely busy with tourists. Taormina offers several nice shopping streets, a nice park, cultural sites, not to forget the beach area (that we did not visit). Taormina's centre is packed with nice terraces and an enormous choice of restaurants. A great place for a two day visit.

    Tourist trap

Tourist trap Impossible to make your way into the city if you travel with car. Roads are impossible, there's no parking and honestly the city is just quaint. Be ready to get a headache trying to find the parkings or get a fine and to walk behind a horde of humans on crowded streets. Booked 2 nights, left the first one

Great for exercise, as it is very hilly, and walking is really the best way to get around. Plenty of good restaurants, fabulous sea views. It is a very relaxing small town, with a lot of tourists of course, even in November when we were there.

Taormina was not the highlight of Sicily - I found it overrated and very touristy but it does has a fun Monaco decadent kind of vibe if you like that bit of bling, and was a good base to go on up to Etna

There are two parts to Taormina really - the historic town set high up in the hills/mountain area facing the sea and the beach area which if you are staying in the town can be accessed on foot; vehicle ; or cable car. The historic town is very pretty, chic and very busy - arguably over commercialised. The beach area below the town is the prettiest part of Sicily that we visited - we also went to Catania; Siracusa; and Noto.
