Surrounded by rolling hills and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!
Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic center. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.
The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodations deals on Booking.com!
Siena is a beautiful city. Great to explore by foot, though quite hilly, so make sure you are fit before visiting. Lots of lovely boutique shops, gorgeous old buildings and a good range of cafes, wine bars and restaurants

compared to FLorence, Siena makes for a distant second (or actually third)
They say it is the difference between Renaissance and Middle Ages between the two cities - and this couldn`t be more true. Dark narrow ally-ways, brick .... the nicest vistas of the two are when you are out in the countryside and look back at it, perched on a hill

Beautiful town. We were only there for 2 nights.
Beautiful town. We were only there for 2 nights. I could be stayed for longer but we had other travel plans. Many great restaurants and cafes. We did not see everything that we wanted to. I wished we would have made a reservation at one of the cool underground wine cellars.

Magnificent Siena.
Magnificent Siena.
A true UNESCO site with plenty of beauty everywhere.
Excellent restaurants, pretty small shops, beautiful views, easy to get around.
People are very warm and welcoming, which is not so usual nowadays.
I did appreciate it.
This is an excellent location to explore siena from. The junior suite was comfortable albeit a bit small for 4 as there is no privacy between the 2 beds. The hotel is well set up and we took advantage of the coffee and terrace for a quick breakfast. All of Pietro’s suggestions were excellent, Thank you Pietro. That we could
comfortably leave our luggage for a final
few hours of exploring on our last
morning was a welcome bonus. I whole heartedly recommend Il Corso and look forward to returning.
We booked a superior room, and it was absolutely fabulous. Large and roomy, including the bathroom, with a stunning central view over the garden and surrounding countryside, it felt like the height of luxury. The hotel was a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day - you could get a drink from the bar and sit in the lovely garden enjoying the view. Although on the western edge of the walled city, it was only a 10-15 minute walk to most of Siena's main sights.
Upon arriving as a solo 73year old woman..I was immediately welcomed, smiled at, SIMONE was so very positive and helpful…relax and breathe…
I was there for one night, had no desire at all to leave the hotel.. I had dinner on the Terrezza…wonderful breakfast ( included) the next morning
The customer service at this hotel is stellar…specially SIMONE!
I live in Italy…native born Californian..have traveled to Siena a few times..
This was perfect for a few nights stay in Siena. It was not a far walk or bus journey into the town. The place was very modern and well equipped. Including a washing machine (great as we were travelling around Italy) and not far from the station. We loved how friendly the staff were - since it was our honeymoon they got us a lovely present to help remind us of Siena!
Hotel looks like it's recently been renovated. Our room is very clean and comfortable. Location is very peaceful and not too far from the Siena central either. Parking is available if required. Vending machine and breakfast is also available onsite.
