Hotel Soleluna, hotel in Piano di Sorrento

Set in the Piano di Sorrento village on the Sorrento Peninsula, Hotel Soleluna is 500 metres from Marina di Cassano Beach. This hotel offers free WiFi and air-conditioned rooms with a fridge.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, but small. I had a single bed, which I am not used to, but it was comfortable. The area is beautiful; it's a short walk from seeing the Coast. There is an amazing Pizzeria just next door, as well as a Fruit stand that also sells water, to the other side of the door. There is a fridge in the room to keep food in. Many bars and restaurants when you walk South West of the hotel. The breakfast was fairly good; keep in mind that Bacon in Italy is Prociutto and it can be very salty. The juice offered was delicious! It is near the train station, so it is easy to get to Sorrento or Pompeii. It is also near a bus that can take you into Sorrento as well. It is approximately 1- 1.5 hour walk to Sorrento Port and Centre.

Please note this review is for the Britannia Hotel (same company) we were transferred to. Firstly, all the staff here were wonderful, and couldn't have been more responsive, helpful and charming, getting our stay in Italy off to a great start. We had a spacious, super clean room with seaview balcony from where we could see Vesuvius. We enjoyed the welcome jacuzzi and lovely terrace and it was nice to be able to have a drink, hot or cold during the day. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of food with again, very lovely staff. The wifi was excellent. Also great was the location with a bus stop right outside with 15min journey into Sorrento centre or station, and a very reasonably priced and lovely restaurant about three doors away. Very highly recommended.

If you are earmarked for activities in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast destinations like Positano, Amalfi etc. It is better to stay in Sorrento proper. Piano di Sorrento is a neighboring town and taxis are costly. Best way to go to Sorrento and other places is by train. Meta train station is the nearest one from the hotel and it is a 15 minute walk. However, it is cheaper to stay here than in Sorrento. So this factor can be an incentive to stay in Piano di Sorrento. The hotel is a boutique hotel. Clean, very good staff and a decent breakfast.

It was a great place to stay for us.

It was a great place to stay for us. Quieter than Sorrento, with really good local restaurants and great access to bus and train. The wider area was very busy at the time of our stay and I’d avoid early-mid September in future. But Piano is a great place to stay for visiting other parts of Sorrento peninsula.

The public beach is one of the better ones on the peninsula...

The public beach is one of the better ones on the peninsula and not as croweded as the ones in Meta or in Sorrent, but lacks most facilities (no public showers, like in Spain or Portugal), yet offer impressive views. The Lido(Bagnia Tina) is also good, except for the loud music. Sadly, but typical fo the region, the city is not very walkable, due to the lack of pedestrian paths, except for the main alles connecting the train Station with the beach. Ideal point if you want a beautiful landscape(Lemon plantations!) and affordable Restaurants(compared to Sorrent ~20 percent less, although there is not that much variety in Piano itself , mostly Pizza places) Piano is a convenient location for day trips to Capri(Laser Capri offers great prices down in the harbour of Piano), the Amalfi coast and Pompeji&Herculaneum. The Airport is easily reached with the Cuerri Viaggio Transfer Service (extremly cheap but comfortable). There are two super markets close to the shore and a small "strip mall" close to the train station&Corso Italiano and a pharmacy.

Piano do Sorento Is a small town just outside of Sorrento (...

Piano do Sorento Is a small town just outside of Sorrento (20 mins away by train). Piano di Sorento is accessible by train from Naples. The beach is a short walk from the main town and is accessible by a lift at certain times of the day for a small fee, or walking via a large steep road. There is a selection of restaurants and bars in the town which the local residents frequent and we enjoyed delicious food and wine here too, in particular the restaurant Osteria Palazzo Maresca, where the food and service was outstanding. Not all the people here are friendly and do not appear to like foreigners so be aware of this. Also the roads are busy and drivers of cars and scooters will not stop for you even at designated a crossings. It is helpful to learn some Italian words and phrases as not all the local people will speak basic English if any at all. I would recommend visiting the next town of Sant’Agnello as it is very beautiful and peaceful.

It really is the quieter option of the Amalfi coast and just as lovely as it's more touristy cousins. There is a great market on Mondays selling fruit and vegetables, olives and cheeses and breads to all sorts of clothing, shoes and house hold goods. There are also a couple of beaches and waterside restaurants. Few were open on the Monday but the one we found in town was just perfect. St Michael the archangel basilica was also very beautiful and had really interesting doors. The villa that is now a museum was also a nice place to go for an evening stroll overlooking the Marina and sea.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Caluga house in April. The hotel's location is very central, a 5-6 mins walk to the train station and a few mins walk to the beach. The hotel was very clean with an aesthetically pleasing environment and decor. The wifi works brilliantly. The room had a great view of the garden. The host was very hospitable and supportive, she even offered us fresh oranges from the garden. Overall, we felt great during our stay and we hope to come back to Caluga House again sometime in the future.

Location was fantastic, right outside a bus stop that took us to Sorrento in under 10mins for 2euro. 6min walk from the train station. Really nice restaurants close by. The staff were amazing with recommendations and the place was very clean with daily housekeeping. Breakfast was okay, we prefer more savoury options, but there was a great selection if you like pastry, yoghurt, fruits etc and they made us a nice cappuccino each morning.

It was in a lovely area and away from the busy area of Amalfi and Positano. You need a car to get around and not too long a drive to main attractions , Positano and Amalfi. Hosts were lovely and very friendly and helpful with information on how to get around. Clean and comfortable rooms and great breakfast. The town of Piano di Sorrento is lovely with great restaurants in the town and on the Marina.
