We really liked our room, room 3, which faced the water and houses just across. The shower was good and strong, and the toilet was large. Beds were comfortable, and the room was nicely heated. More than enough space to open luggage and store items. Breakfast spread, which we paid for, was more than sufficient, and we were even allowed to take away extras.
Note that during winter no restaurants are open in town, and you have to eat at Egilsstaðir, the town half an hour before. The drive can be challenging in the winter. The hotel did inform us of this nearing our stay date, but wish we knew earlier. I want to say we may not have chosen to stay at Hotel Aldan instead, but guess what? We saw the Northern Lights clear and bright, dancing across the sky. So bonus points I guess haha!

It is a beautiful secluded town in Eastfjords filled with colorful houses. Serene and quiet surrounded by beautiful mountains. We wish we had more time to visit artisan galleries. Unfortunately we arrived late evening and art studios were closed.

This town is a bit over rated in my opinion.
This town is a bit over rated in my opinion. There is almost nothing there. The setting is nice, but we stayed in a town called Siglufjordur up north is much prettier and had a lot more to offer, so I would skip this one and head up there.

This is a great place to stay for a couple of days.
This is a great place to stay for a couple of days. The town is small but charming, and there a multiple day hikes close by. If you are doing the ring road, this might be a nice spot for two nights to rest up a bit. You might catch a glimpse of the Faroe Islands/Denmark Ferry that comes in once a week. Breakfast options are limited, however there is a little bakery in the supermarket that has wonderful fresh baked bread and goods.

This is a pleasant town in a strikingly beautiful location between mountains and a fjord. Apart from the surrounding beauty, the town is tranquil (out of season) and very walkable. We understand that things heat up during the summer season. There are a handful of restaurants and a well-stocked supermarket. During working hours the town suffers from strong fishy odors coming from the local fish processing factory.
In short, it is a must-see stop on any tour of Iceland.

Seydisfjordur was a picture perfect village.
Seydisfjordur was a picture perfect village. We ate at two of the restaurants and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a local hike. And being fans of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" we enjoyed seeing the filming locations in this town.
