The Northern Comfort Inn, hotel in Ólafsfjörður

The Northern Comfort Inn is a self-catering establishment with free Wi-Fi and a private bathroom with shower in every room.

This property surprised me in a very pleasant way, and exceeded my expectations! When I booked it, the property looked a bit understated, and I knew it was a self check in. What the Northern Comfort Inn may not show as much on the outside, it makes up for on the inside with a very excellent property. First of all, the view across a lake and up to a mountain was stunning. You could not ask for a better view. The self check in was very easy, and the hotel was spotless. There were a lot of maps and local information which I really appreciated, as we needed some guide information for our trip. There was an open kitchen available where you could either prepare a meal or keep your food in a freezer or refrigerator. That was extremely helpful and something many properties do not have. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. I had hurt my back earlier in the day and the bed was a delight. They had an extra charging cord set up which was another extremely helpful detail they had that many hotels do not. They were near a very nice playground area if you're traveling with children, and the town is gorgeous. Would LOVE to stay here again!

The cabin was nice and cozy.. we were still able to cook there with the stove provided. The hot tub at the back was fantastic and we were super lucky to see the Aurora borealis in the night for almost an hour.

What was there not to like!! The house was amazing, the views were the best we've seen. The hosts were thoughtful with leaving a bottle of Champagne for our group. The hot tub was amazing and easy to use. The hiking around the property was awesome. The sheep are not allowed in the area so they are free of poop! The fridge has a freezer!!

Hotel Siglunes, hotel in Ólafsfjörður

Surrounded by a fjord in the northern town of Siglufjördur, this hotel is 328 feet from Adalgata main street and 11 mi from Ólafsfjördur town center.

Loved the decor and aesthetic of the hotel with vintage furnishings. It was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. We had a room with a shared bathroom and this worked out really well. The bathroom was spacious, clean and only shared with one other single room. It is also in a great location in the town centre and everything is close by on foot. There is a small parking lot outside and parking on the street. I would recommend this hotel I would just say that tourists need to adjust their travel plans to arrive in town at a decent time to ensure they can find a place to eat.

The Herring House, hotel in Ólafsfjörður

The guest house is located IN the town Siglufjörður, the northernmost town of the Troll Peninsula. , this modern guest house is 9.9 mi from Ólafsfjördur.

The hosts were very accommodating and gave my son his own room even though we only booked a triple. The breakfast spread was amazing with homemade breads, fruit, cheeses, meats, yogurt, etc. and they told us all about the area, Icelandic culture and life that I felt like I was visiting with family(we chatted for an hour and half). So warm and helpful telling us about the local sites and hiking trails. Hands down the most beautiful town in Iceland on the Ring Road and best experience since I got to really experience Iceland and the warmth of Icelanders. Highly recommend!

Ásgarður, hotel in Ólafsfjörður

Ásgarður is a recently renovated apartment in Hrísey where guests can make the most of the garden and barbecue facilities. Featuring sea and mountain views, this apartment also comes with free Wifi.

I like it that it was on a Island, where you have to go by ferry ( in the ferry was information about possibility of seeing a whale but it was raining so we wasn't seeing much), the ferry staff was also very helpfulad nice. The house was maybe 200 meters from the ferry point on the island so it was really close.

This was the only place (except in Reykjavik) where we met the host. I appreciated that. Of course we traveled for the scenery, but I also wanted to meet Icelanders. Olafsfjordur was also close enough to visit the surrounding area, and, gee, the tunnels were an experience also.

Looking back, I feel lucky that we ended (pretty much by chance) in Ólafsfjörður and not somewhere in the south. Driving is slow in Iceland so even just getting to Akureyri was a substantial trip but that's a constant in Iceland. Knowing what I know now, it was as good a base as any, and better than most. On our way back to the airport when we stopped by the locations of the so-called Golden Circle, with their hundreds of buses and their crowds, it felt bizzare. The main attraction of Iceland is that you can take a hike among the hills and, with just a little luck, have the whole valley for yourself (not counting the sheep). The neighboring Dalvik offers great horse rides (do look at Tvistur), the ferry to Grimsey, and more.

We arrived earlier, so the staff made sure our room was made ready. Nice room, comfy bed, beautiful sitting area to dine in (no restaurant, but make yourself). The hotel really goes above and beyond, they're so customer friendly oriented! They offer so many free things to use, for example: They have a pooltable you can use for free, even kayaks! You can grab fresh towels whenever you want and if you want new linen on your bed you only need to ask.. Also free coffee machine.

It is a wonder place. The settlement, Ólafsfjörður, is an amazingly located alone, but the small wooden houses add to the experience. It was everything and even more. The hot tub is a must!
