When travelling I prefer to enjoy the place & mix with the people instead of hopping from one place to another spending hours in a car. Eating where they eat & shopping where they shop instead of “touristic” destinations. I walked around from the house to Ngarai Sianok then Jam Gadang. The weather cooperated throughout my stay, but the crowds were packed due to the town 29th anniversary celebrations.
Maybe visiting during mid year instead of monsoon & peak holiday seasons will give more time to enjoy the areas.
The costs are friendly to the wallet & even small food stalls around the areas are delicious & representing the traditional dishes.

very bad experience , we didn't even the homestay . I text the number for guidance , never replie until the day we fly back to Kuala Lumpur . I hope Booking.com please take out the home stay from your listing . I afraid other people will experince the same thing . We had to get another hotel tah bight .
Great place to stay in Bukittinggi. Comfortable rooms, hot showers, free tea, coffee and water and a nice rooftop as well. Bayu who works at reception speaks great English and went above and beyond to help me during my stay with any questions I had.
