The room was better than we expected for the price. The pool area was lovely & loungers comfortable. There was a book swap table which is always a plus for me 😊. The owners were friendly. The rooms were cleaned, beds made & towels changed daily which was also a pleasant surprise given the cost of our stay in comparison to the surrounding hotels we'd looked at.

Most of the reviews I read before going there stated you only need 2-3 days for the city. It's true only for the city! We rented a car and visited 8 out of the ~ 60 beaches of the island, one more beautiful than the other. The views are breathtaking - every picture you take could be a postcard and the beaches are different, you have small, bigger, with or without music, with or without waves. You will definitely find the right one for you. I personally loved Mandraki beach (with waves and a wild setting, you walk through a pine forest to get to the beach), Banana beach and the stunning Kriffi Ammos. Koukonaries is lovely too but it can get crowded especially during the weekends. We had a tsatziki tasting contest of which the winner was Akre, followed by Thessaloniki and Old Fish Tavern. I was in September to avoid the crowds and I want to repeat the experience to explore other beaches. There are cats everywhere so I recommend having a string with you or a dress with small tassels for a extra feeling of excitement.

Watch out for the annoying taxi drivers at the airport. They charged us 20 Euros for a 7-minute drive.
The buses work just fine, 10 minutes apart. 30 minutes apart to go to and from the airport. Use the buses.

Busy along the front, lots of noisy bars, boat trips with music etc... preferred the quieter lanes, alleys and back streets where we found nice restaurants and bars with a good ambience and atmosphere. Nice shops on main street "papadiamanti" for clothes, beautiful decorative household items and jewellery. Lively streets but we stayed fairly close by and didn't hear much noise. The town beach is long and narrow with sun beds available 15-20 euros, and a selection of small tavernas for lunch. Can walk to it on foot from the harbour and old town in 15 mins max. There is also a bus from and to the airport which is only 2 euros (taxis between 10 and 20 euros depending how many people), and its 5 mins journey, literally.

It's a tourist town now.
It's a tourist town now. Plenty of cafes restaurants and shops. It's a good place as a hub for other islands. Choose your hotel carefully to avoid traffic noise from bikes up till 3am and restarting at 6am.
On the front the Ariston bakery is good for sandwiches,coffee and cakes. Best to avoid breakfast elsewhere as they can be expensive.
Great bus service to the beaches and cheap too.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the charming town of Skiathos, and it was a truly delightful experience. The beautiful, colorful narrow streets of the town are an absolute wonder to explore. Every corner reveals something new, from quaint shops to vibrant flowers cascading from balconies, creating a picture-perfect setting.The food in Skiathos was another highlight of our trip. We enjoyed some wonderful meals, served by the friendliest people. The warmth and hospitality of the locals truly added to the experience, making every dining experience feel special.While we visited a few beaches, they were a little disappointing compared to what we're used to back in Australia, where the beaches are simply incredible. However, this small drawback didn’t take away from the overall charm of Skiathos. The town’s unique atmosphere and the friendliness of its people made our trip memorable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely getaway in Greece.

Skiathos town has become a little too popular in that it is almost over-run by tourists. Whilst still lovely, it is a victim of its own popularity. The port eateries, especially the one directly in front of the jewellers shop, with the Australian and fella that looks like Brian May, is best avoided. Fake friendliness and intimidating over extracting cash as a payment method instead of being able to use a card payment. Bog standard and uninspiring food too. Had no issues anywhere else, all other restaurants and staff were spot on and a credit to the town. Transport is very easy and food shopping easy.
The host, Dimitri was very helpful and friendly, meeting at us at the bottom of the steps upon arrival. He helped us carry our bags up the steps to check in. The room was clean and spacious, with an amazing view overlooking the bay. The Rock is situated in a fantastic location in the Old Town on the doorstep of the waterfront and restaurants, and within a few minutes easy walk to centre of Skiathos Town itself. A small climb to the accomodation from the waterfront, but well worth it for the view.
Amazing location, beautifully presented and spacious apartment. We absolutely loved the view and the tranquility, yet within a stone's throw of all the action on Skiathos Town. Our host Kitty was amazing. She was incredible responsive to any question, and she made us instantly feel relaxed and welcome. All her restaurant reviews were extremely reliable. She was totally committed to us having a fabulous holiday 😀

Excellent location, very comfy beds, room was lovely and clean and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was probably the best i've ever had in Greece, all was brilliant, thank you! looking forward to staying at Hotel Kostis on my next visit to Skiathos.
