small tips: from the airport the bus ride that comes every 25 minutes costs 3 euros. If the accommodation is in the center of Skiathos or close to the ports, it is also worth a walk, next to the beach. You can also do plainspotting, photos of swans or the old windmill on the shore and the journey takes no more than 20 minutes. In the off-season, half of the shops and restaurants are closed, but they all come with an advantage, there are few tourists and quiet in the narrow alleys of the city. The gyros from No Name is worth it, cheap and good! Also, in the morning coffee or pies with spinach and cheese or ham from Mamma Mia, close to the port, on the main pedestrian alley. As an experience, the Koukounaries beach is worth the effort of 6 euros round trip by bus, from station 0 to the last, in the off-season lasting approx. 25 minutes. Also, in the city, Plakes beach is special, because instead of sand you have marble, and to get there you pass through a superb geological park.

Friendly interesting and beautiful town. Not too over priced and some budget friendly spending on food and souvenirs. Great bakeries good coffee and Greek dishes. Boat tour was ok but a little pricey. The buses are fantastic and I throughly enjoyed hopping on and off at different stops visiting beaches etc.
I felt it safe as a solo traveller but didn’t venture out at night outside of my hotel area.
There are lots of up and down hills make sure you have comfy walking shoes and not just flip flops. Super markets are great for basic shopping the water is mostly not over priced even at the airport which was a welcome surprise.

A busy town full of Grockle shops, with one or two selling unpriced quality items. Plenty of places to stop for a coffee, eat, or drink. Our visit was at the end of September, where some businesses had already closed, and many more were on the point of doing so. There is a bus service to visit the island, but we did not discover where this started from, and only had one full day on the island forced on us by bad weather defeating the ferries to and from the other islands.

Most of the reviews I read before going there stated you only need 2-3 days for the city. It's true only for the city! We rented a car and visited 8 out of the ~ 60 beaches of the island, one more beautiful than the other. The views are breathtaking - every picture you take could be a postcard and the beaches are different, you have small, bigger, with or without music, with or without waves. You will definitely find the right one for you. I personally loved Mandraki beach (with waves and a wild setting, you walk through a pine forest to get to the beach), Banana beach and the stunning Kriffi Ammos. Koukonaries is lovely too but it can get crowded especially during the weekends. We had a tsatziki tasting contest of which the winner was Akre, followed by Thessaloniki and Old Fish Tavern. I was in September to avoid the crowds and I want to repeat the experience to explore other beaches. There are cats everywhere so I recommend having a string with you or a dress with small tassels for a extra feeling of excitement.

Watch out for the annoying taxi drivers at the airport. They charged us 20 Euros for a 7-minute drive.
The buses work just fine, 10 minutes apart. 30 minutes apart to go to and from the airport. Use the buses.

Busy along the front, lots of noisy bars, boat trips with music etc... preferred the quieter lanes, alleys and back streets where we found nice restaurants and bars with a good ambience and atmosphere. Nice shops on main street "papadiamanti" for clothes, beautiful decorative household items and jewellery. Lively streets but we stayed fairly close by and didn't hear much noise. The town beach is long and narrow with sun beds available 15-20 euros, and a selection of small tavernas for lunch. Can walk to it on foot from the harbour and old town in 15 mins max. There is also a bus from and to the airport which is only 2 euros (taxis between 10 and 20 euros depending how many people), and its 5 mins journey, literally.

Makis Sea Studio is modern, clean and has a stunning view of the Skiathos town centre. Studio has an AC and a smart TV which is a plus. We really liked that cleaning was done everyday. Our host Katerina upon our arrival welcomed us with a nice bottle of wine and water. She also left us microfibre towels which were perfect for sandy beaches. On our last day she gave us a nice going away present so we can remember our stay here.
Location was perfect, not too far from local restaurants and the fabulous beach. All within a 5 min walk. Bus stop just up the road 10 mins into Skiathos Town. Skiathos Old Town was the best fir eating and bars and soaking up the atmosphere.
Our rooms were cleaned daily, pool was just outside our door. Staff and everyone there were all so friendly and helpful.
This is the best hotel we have stayed in in Greece. The location is ideal, our room was at the front of the hotel and overlooked the harbour. The room was well furnished, very clean and comfortable. The aircon was really good and the bathroom all worked fine. Would stay again at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Skiathos Town.
Fantastic small hotel with high quality finishes in Skiathos town. Far enough away to escape the crowds but only a short stroll away. Check out the restaurant Cuva in the small square next door. Became our favourite place - excellent food and such friendly young team running it.
Great stay in Skiathos town, great location close to everything but in a quit place, beautiful hotel, clean , outstanding service and with a simple and tasty breakfast offered by the wonderful owner Lia which really makes the difference. Highly recommended!!
