I didn't actually stay here. On getting to the hotel I was informed they were overbooked so they gave.me an apartment to stay in nearby.

Burnside Cottage, hotel in Wick

Situated just 19 km from Sinclair's Bay, Burnside Cottage features accommodation in Wick with access to a garden, a bar, as well as room service.

Being met by the owner on arrival. Very easu access to the room we had. Car parking on site at no cost. A lovely country view from our room. Very peacfull and quiet location but easy to get to from the main road. Now the very best part. We ordered breakfast on arrival for the next day and were informed that it would be served in our room within the breakfast time slot and picked a set time. In the room is a small table and chairs right by the window with a great view. The next morning the owner brought breakfast on a lovely trolley and we sat and had breakfast in peace and quiet. The breakfast was lovely certainly enough to start the day well. By the way an evening meal is available also served in the room but must be ordered the day before arrival, they send you a menu at time of booking for breakfast and dinner. Good selection. The room is very nicely decorated, very clean and a good size. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom very nice. We have already planned another visit next year !!! The owner is very nice and makes you feel at home right away

The town if you looked for it has a lot of interesting historical facts especially the old fishing industry. The museum is worth a visit. The sea views are very good if you walk out of town. Because we stayed on a Sunday a lot of places were closed but we did find a very nice Indian on the harbour also the bistro not far from the station was a very nice meal. The town is looking a little tired and could do with some investment but it-s a great base if you want to go to John O Groats . Train journey to Wick was a high light

Camps Bar is minutes away from the excellent Morag's cafe - well recommended, with other eating establishments close by. Wick itself is, like many other towns in Scotland, replete with many closed shops and unoccupied buildings, but the local people are among the most friendly and helpful I have come across. Would happily visit here again.

Wick is rather a dismal looking town, but the people are very friendly and there is lots to do within a short drives. e.g. John'o'Groats, including Duncansby and Dunnet Heads, Sinclair's and Dunnet Bays, Castle Sinclair Gringoe and the Whaligoe steps. Lidl and large Tesco for food shopping/fuel stations. Ate at the Castle Hotel which was good, and had fish and chips from the High Street Chippy and Chinese, which does have some seating for eating in.

The house was very fine, delightfully quirky and full of character reflecting its long family associations and interests. My hosts were charming to the extent I felt very much at home. I left with reluctance!

Spent a week motorbike touring over a lot of Scotland including doing North Coast 500. Having spent 6 nights in different types of accommodation ,principally hotels, none of the others could compare in anyway to the Clachan B&B. 5 star is best way to describe the experience from start to finish. Best B&B I ever stayed in.

cosy room with plenty space to put your stuff. Jeanie was fantastic, very helpful and pleasant. She has an Aurora alert on her phone, and if you want will wake you up to see Aurora if it is out. We were so lucky to see it! you can walk right up to the sea and it a good place to explore the north of Scotland from.

A bright spot on the map of Wick. One of the more spacious apartments on our tour of Scotland. Very well stocked with everything you need to feel at home. And what we appreciate, as people who live by the sea, the view from the windows overlooking the harbor. We highly recommend it.
