Whitby itself is a mix, upmarket antique shops, curiosity shops, starred restaurants. As with most crowded tourist places you get a mix, but no bargains. The coastal location, proximity to the North Yorkshire Moors, and sea is what makes it exceptional.

Plenty of places to eat and drink and sites to see. It was was Very busy. Too many dogs, I dont uderstand why owners take them to such crowded places and a lot of dog poo on the ground being trodden in, and dogs snarling and barking having to be held back from each other by the owners.

Beautiful place, I have visited many times and never been disappointed with the town . Lots of things to do, museums, boat trips, shopping, quirky back streets and lots of places to eat and drink. A visit to the ruins of Whitby Abbey is a must...climb the 199 steps or hop on a town tour bus to get to the top of the headland.

Lovely front view of the sea. Liked the communal downstairs areas, although old furniture in the quiet room, it was cozy. Liked the designated car parking space, we booked this in advance Liked the position of the hotel in Whitby; easy walking distance to everywhere. However lots of steps so not so good for people with limited mobility
