We loved all the attractions of Wells, the only thing that was a disappointment was the time we were there we did not have a decent meal. Everyone's excuse was short of staff which is not good enough.

We visited Wells in mid winter to see the Cathedral and the medieval surroundings, and we were not disappointed. The Cathedral is stunning, the internal scissor arches are unlike anything we have seen before, the stone carving is magnificent., and the free tour given by local guides was incredibly informative and lively. There is a charge of £14 to enter the Cathedral which is valid for a year, but we thought it worth the money. The surrounding area of old buildings is quite delightful, easy to walk round the whole area in a few hours. There are also lots of eateries, and some interesting shops in the town.

Beautiful city. Good parking.
Beautiful city. Good parking. History and great architecture at every turn. The cathedral and Bishops palace are must sees. Lots of choice for something to eat. We loved the Long Story Bistro and recommend the Mesopotamian coffee. Wookey hole literally down the road. Good variety of shops.

Wells is a lovely city, the cathedral is beautiful.
Wells is a lovely city, the cathedral is beautiful. Car parking is, of course, expensive but there are quite a lot of car parks. It's a small city so easy to walk around with lots of interesting shops and sights. The weather was unfortunately poor. Other attractions are nearby and quite easy to get to.

Wells is such a compact city so very easy to get round and with a good selection of shops. We have stayed here a few times and the cathedral is wonderful. We went to the Bishops Palace Gardens and really enjoyed it but when we went again decided it was too expensive (perhaps it was a different time of year). We have enjoyed meals at the Greek Taverna - The Sun Inn, and at The Swan. We also had a meal at The Globe which was good with a very friendly atmosphere but the next time we went it was closed. Open again now under new ownership but we only had a drink there on Christmas Day. However, it still had a good atmosphere and was very busy. The walking town tour is also well worth it.

I loved the location of the hotel, a rural setting but close enough to Wells City Centre.
The staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
I loved the breakfast, good value for money lots of choices and very tasty.
The hotel is very clean but a bit dated, but good value for money.
Great location for wookey hole caves. We went to Wookey hole for the day, initially when paying for tickets I thought it was a bit over priced, but once inside had a fantastic day. Would suggest taking a picnic, as lots to do one inside.
A lovely old, historic hotel! Location was perfect for walking to the Bishops Palace, Bishops Close and Wells Cathedral. View from our room was lovely out onto the well in Market Square – we had a Double Room with Four Poster Bed. Due to the history, the floors are quite creaky, but this adds a bit to the charm. Staff were very obliging and found us a table when we had arrived quite late. Breakfast was ok.
i really like the history and style of the building. It was full of character. the view of the cathedral from my room was amazing and I felt really grateful. the only down fall was there wasn’t parking on site. however, was cheap car parks that wasn’t too far from the hotel. The reception staff was lovely and really helpful also. Wells is a very pretty city and it is close to Glastonbury. Great location
This hotel is a little gem and you couldn't get nearer accommodation to the fantastic Wells Cathedral. There is a fantastic range of real ales and ciders and the property was clean and warm The staff were amazingly friendly and they all liked our Dog
