Food was just OK, staff were great. They probably need a bit of training on clearing etiquette. Eg, a plate was cleared away whilst still eating from it. Very friendly staff

Little John Hotel, hotel in Tideswell

In the centre of Hathersage, The Little John Hotel provides bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation in Derbyshire’s Peak District.

The hotel was ideally placed for our trip to The Peaks. The staff were very good in dealing with a couple of minor issues. They were polite, efficient and friendly. Our room was clean and met our expectations. The slight ssue with heating was quickly dealt with. The breakfast and evening meal was great value for money. The staff offered advice on the ales and the menu and were very courteous. We would come and stay here again if we were to return to the area.

Great location to get to some great hiking spots without spending too much time on the road. We visited the Ladybower Reservoir, Cave Dale, Mam Tor, the Monsal Trail and other places. Elliots fish and chip shop makes a visit to Tideswell worth it on its own and The Merchants Yard has an excellent restaurant and is a great place to stay.

Tideswell is a convenient village for visiting Buxton, Bakewell and the Monsal trail in the Peak District. It has 3 pubs within the village that all serve food, plus an Italien restaurant, a fish and chip shop and a local convenience store. The eateries get very busy in the evening so it's probably best to pre book. There are plenty of pubs in surrounding villages. You probably need a car to get there, we did not use public transport. There is a lovely church known as the Cathedral of the Peaks.

The rooms are modern, comfortable and beautifully put together with a gorgeous en-suite including a big bath! We’ve visited a number of times and service is always great, breakfast is probably the best we’ve had at any of our hotel stays. The service is brilliant, everyone is so friendly, helpful and welcoming. We honestly couldn’t fault a thing.

Hotel had good facilities in regards to drinks etc. Room was large enough. Breakfast was good though a little on the steep side especially having to pay for tea seperately and not included. Locality was good.
